    Actually it was because of a poorly designed holster system that he was not proficient with. You only put your finger on the trigger in this technique, or really any technique, when you are pointed toward your intended target. If you are doing something other than that you are doing it wrong and are possibly being incredibly unsafe.

    That all depends on if you need to shoot. If you are on a range and playing games that’s fine. But on the streets prepping the trigger is a big no no. Never place your finger on the trigger until you actually want to shoot, and the vast majority of the time you don’t need to shoot. If you train to do that you will do it in real life under stress.

  • @donkeydefense

    @donkeydefense

    If there is something or someone in front of me I want to shoot, then I want to put my finger on the trigger, prep to the wall, and fire. If I want to do that from the draw, then I should start prepping early. If I don't want to shoot, I don't put my finger on the trigger. It's that simple.

    @@donkeydefense Muscle, memory and repetitions what are you doing? Training automatically happens in real life. I’ve been instructor for 30 years and seeing this stuff happen over and over and in all reality the 10th of a fraction of a second it takes to drawl a gun point the gun. and decide to place your finger on the trigger and pull the trigger. Prepping not gonna give you any advantage. What it will do is cause an accidental discharge or shooting someone they don’t need to be shot. If you were a high-speed military unit and was engaging with the enemy that’s completely different story. But in the real world that doesn’t work. If you ever do have to shoot someone you better pray that a nasty Prosecutor never sees this video. All they have to do is the prove you shot someone unintentionally, even if you shot them intentionally to win their case.

    When you put your finger on the trigger of most handguns, there will be some amount of “take-up” before you reach a point of resistance, “the wall”. Whenever we shoot we want to shoot from the wall so “prepping” is simply preparing the trigger to be shot from the wall.

    Be careful with this while practicing with live ammo....When I practice this with laser dryfire bullet, it's very easy to pull trigger too fast, especially at distance....So in a real gun fight, you don't want to use this technique unless the offender is very close, or they already have the drop on you and you just gotta do what u gotta do. At distance, if u got the time to get it out the holster, u got plenty of time to make sure u don't squeeze to early.
