How to Draw a Surreal Cityscape in Isometric - Inktober - Day 2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'll be sharing some casual draw along exercises with the aim of sharing some tips and advice.
In this video I'm playing around in isometric, this is such a great way to gain an understanding of drawing in three dimensions, most importantly, it's fun!
There is no music in these videos and minimal editing..... so get some tunes on and enjoy a good drawing session.

I actually love that there’s no music. Love hearing the pen movements and your creative thoughts while you navigate through your drawing. Looking forward to learning this Isometric technique as I’m new to Ink & it looks awesome 👌😎 Edit:Btw amazing cityscape

Hmmm, a little Piranesi-esque, I see. Great stuff. (I just made up that word but you're wecome to use it! 😂 Question: I notice in many of your videos that your hand is often hovering above the paper, even when drawing a straight line or adding a detail. Did you just start doing that at some point during your studies, or, say, after your freezing Flatiron experience? Or is it something you were taught? I tried doing the same, at least on long lines, and it actually works pretty well. Seems to force you to draw more from the shoulder instead of the hand which I guess you're supposed to do. (?) I sure hope you can get to the States soon to hold some workshops. Thanks, Luke

Thanks Justin! I'm glad, i'm aware they are pretty rough in. the scheme of things but I just cannot find the time to edit at the moment.

Nice 🙂 So, when creating an actual artwork are the construction lines done with pencil and then erased?

Thank you! I’m using a Japanese Moleskine here, any smooth paper will do. I’m using Copic Multiliners 0.05 in most of my work, I’ll include in the description from now on 👍

Copic Multiliner 0.05 I usually put the pens in the description. Any fineliner/biro will do, the best pen is the closest
