    Hey Dianne-You''RE a great High School Art Instructor as I'm a college graduate and I'M currently working on a 2point perspective sketch drawing on a 8 1/2"X11" Typing Paper of my Percussion Idea Invention that I'VE been thinking about since 1983 when I first got out of college and I couldn't find any work around The Springs and I was going through some very difficult things personally and I told my Dad about my idea since he got me started on the drums and he was a big band drummer and he gave me a lot of encouragement and told me to pursue drawing out my idea and then get all of the materials to build my percussion invention and your 2 point perspective drawing instruction is helping me on a daily basis to accomplish what I need to know about drawing out my idea as I've already finished my 2 point perspective drawing with a black pen from my job on 8 1/2"X11" graph paper and will make copies that I'LL send to The U.S.Patent Office when this National Crisis slows down and there's somebody in that particular office so that I know how much material they will require for the patent process to begin so that I can eventually get the patent that I want and Thank-You for your excellent 2Point Perspective instruction and I think you do a great job of explaining you Vanishing Lines and Vanishing Points then any of the rest of these instructors here on You Tube.Thank-You MAM and great job with these 2 videos of the Entertainment Center in the basement of the house and the simple 2Point Perspective 1 Story House with the outdoor pool and privacy fence in the backyard.Leighton R.Hogue KE0TPN.

    Thank you for taking the time to teach. It is a very generous gift. I'm trying to teach myself how to draw after 50 years of doodling and wishing I could draw. I really enjoyed this exercise. Perspective , for me, is one of those things I have to see done or do myself to really get it. Now I'm having fun shading in some cushions and pictures on the walls and a circular, floating , bb8 type droid coming down the stairs into the room.

    I started to teach myself since I was young on how to draw perspective and since I got better and practiced more and more my art teacher is showing off my art work aka the perspectives drawings that I did and is helping other art students understand it. Keep Practicing at it, you will get better, it only took me like 2-4 years to master but yet again I am a self taught drawer.

    What a great tutorial. I took an art class at the local community center hoping to get practical advise on perspective. The volunteer teacher, although she was good at drawing, was not a very good teacher. She basically said perspective was in your eye and you either had it or you didn't. While I enjoyed the community center class I learned more in your 25 minute presentation than I did attending the 15 hour class. I know it been 4 years now but thanks for posting.

    Thank you so much for the kind words! It is sometimes difficult to transfer an ability for art into teachable units! The teacher really has to break it down for the student. For example, I can teach drawing and ceramics much easier than teaching painting. Most art teachers, including me, believe that anyone can learn the skills necessary to draw. I figure that if I can have success with hostile teenagers, anyone can learn!! Thanks again.

I was really struggling with perspective points, i've watched quite a fair few other videos explaining it in more depth than my teacher did but couldn't find anything that didn't confuse me even more haha. But then you pop up and I think I can understand it a whole lot more better! I feel as though i'm still struggling slightly but this has brought me one step closer I believe, i'll try doing 2 point perspective today and see if I can do better than my previous attempts. I’ve taught this technique to my grade 5/6 classes. I only used above the horizon for simplicity. They absolutely loved it because they had a perfect technical drawing. They did it on newspaper one year and we ended up with a newspaper city. For those who struggled with it I used an elastic on the horizon line and worked with them one to one. After the more able students had finished they helped the others. I wish I’d taken a photo of our city. It took a LOT of organising beforehand to make sure each piece had a place in a line to keep our perspective. They shaded appropriately so that it looked brilliant. We put it in the foyer where it got a lot of attention from visitors. Thank you for explaining everything step by step. Students could look at it and pause it on the iPads if they needed to consolidate what they needed to do.

    Hey Dianne-I forgot to mention that my Dad was an accomplished Architect here in town and that I just didn't draw because I didn't think I was any good at it back in The Early 1980'S after college was completed but I'M older now and I'm always learning new things in addition to my Full-Time which I also am enjoying a lot and keep up your great work of Art Instructor and I'LL keep referring to your videos here on You Tube for my own references and guidance.Thank-You Again MAM!!!Leighton R.Hogue KE0TPN TECHNICIAN.

    A dedicated desk or drawing board for this would have the two points outside your page, marked with thin nails to give your straight-edge a definite stop. Then you would just need corner clamps to hold your work in place, and it would all be very easy.

    @dianewoodsartlessonchannel2229

    Very good idea! Unfortunately, not doable in my classroom. As students became more advanced, I had them use a strip of mat board attached to a portable drawing board. This way the points could be off the picture plane and more realistic. The nail idea would be very cool for an at home studio.
