The option has been moved now, you have to click the 3 dots (to the right of the cloud button used in the video) to get "More Download Options". Great vid.

It doesn't work, selecting compatible downloads still downloads HEIC for me

Using compatible mode, I get JPG when downloading a single image, but still get HEIC when multiple images are selected and downloaded using "most compatible" option.

Ho do you do it when you select multiple images. I try those steps and it zips the files but inside the sip they are still HEIC files.

When downloading it via most compatible - mp4, it egrades/downgrades the resolution from 4K HDR to 1080p. The only way I can get it to download the full quality is via M4V but then my PC & editing software doesn't recognize it. Any suggestions?

Hey Avery! Yeah it’s been a while since my last video, I’m trying to get back at it and get some new content out!

Hi! Great video… But there is more! Please help… I download my photos to my mac exactly how you do but a double file comes with every photos; the live format (or .mov as they appear)!!! So I am stock with all those files and I don’t need them. What can I avoid that and don’t download them? Thank you!

Is it possible that you have your photos synced in different locations? You may also see extra copies of photos when they have been edited in the iOS or Photos app before being downloaded to your Mac

Hi! Thank you for you anwser. Yes! I forgot about that so I don’t have to download them at all… (yeah that was not my best one 🫣😂) But still, of I had to download them from icloud, I would be stocked with both versions; edits and live formats! That’s lots of contents! Not to mention the time that it will take to do it and to delete them… Does that make sens?

But when you download that way, don’t the MP4’s end up as 720? Is there a way to download them so that they’re at least still 1080?

It depends on first how you have your device set to record I mean at what resolution, then when it saves it, it will save it as that resolution. So when you want to download it you should choose unmodified so it downloads exactly the same resolution that you recorded at. If you choose most compatible it will change a video to Mp4 but unmodified will be Mov.

My HEIC files won’t show up on my iCloud

Regardless of which option I select it continues to save as MOV.

sometimes you have to click it back and forth first, like click the top option and then the bottom one and then click it again on the one that you want and then try, I know that sounds funny but mine did that a couple times I had to click it back and forth before it selected the right one, must be a bug with it

All my 1080p videos are 640p when I download them. No matter how.

Hi, we have tried this but Google Chrome is blocking the download. Do you have a fix for this please?

yeah you need to go into your google chrome settings and adjust the settings in the google chrome browser, you can change settings like that in the browser settings so it will allow downloads

i click it but it keeps downloading HEIC ... ugh it says "when possible" but it's not working ...

so they updated this since I did the video and I need to do a new video but when you click on most compatible, make sure to click a few times and then try it, I noticed a small bug when I tried clicking it once it didn't work I had the same results as your getting it kept downloading in HEIC so try clicking that circle thing for most compatible like three times or more and see if that does it for you, see if that helps.

Does anyone know if this works on mac also?

Click it back and forth a couple of times between the two modes. And make sure to click on the mode you choose last. Sometimes it acts up. It did that same thing to me before.

This sucks and is a giant PIA for me as I use this method for 20-50 photos at a time for work. Used to be so easy :(
