Hi Joby, Update on symbol described in my previous message. I have found out that it is a warning of the total delay in minutes and is activated by the Navigator / SmartLink smartphone app when following a route. When activated it flashes up a message on the top of the Navigator stating "total delay in minutes" This message disappears within seconds but the icon with the number of minutes, car and clock remain. I believe it stays there while ever the delay is valid. I noticed it increments and decrements until the delay is null. Interestingly it seems independent of the arrival time displayed on the Navigator at the bottom of the screen. I believe that getting it's data from the smartphone means the changes are much more granular than the changes in the displayed arrival time. I have trawled the web to see if I could find out the triggers for this alert but like many of Garmin products any info is hard to find. Anyway at least I know what it is trying to tell me but its usefulness is still up for debate. regards John M

Not that I'm aware of. The latest update changed it and it can't be changed back. I believe some from Zumo forums has opened a ticket with Garmin about it.

Hi Joby, Thanks for your videos, I have found them excellent. I have a BMW Navigator V running the latest maps and software. I occasionally get a unrecognized icon displayed on the left hand side of the screen while riding. Its a car symbol with clock above and a time reading in the format eg, 00:02 below the car symbol. Have you ever come across this or a list of symbols? I have trawled the web and Garmin website but cannot find any references to such a symbol. Not necessarily important but I would love to know what it represents. Anyway keep up the good work John M BMW R1200RT rider in OZ

Hi John. All I can think of is it could perhaps be a mobile safety camera site? If you have your device connected to your phone and are running the Garmin Smartphone link then new sites that people have reported can appear. That's only a guess though. I've not come across that symbol before.

I thought all that would/should happen automatically on first turning the sucker on 😂 I may stick to using a paper map after watching this. Thank you for the info, about to watch How to create Base map from scratch Obviously I'm computer illiterate and have difficulty using this iPad and smartphone By the way would my iPad be classed as a computer as in your instructionals? Thanks for the tutorial....... I'm faced with a HUGE problem. I updated Basecamp 4.8.4 64 bit & Garmin Express this week after updating my O.S. to Mojave 10.14.4 on my 2016 15" MacBook Pro. I'm trying to create a route with waypoints. As soon as I create/drop a third waypoint in the route window, Basecamp crashes. I deleted the Basecamp and reloaded all updates and retested, it still crashes in the same manner. I inserted several Route Points with no problem on the map after I drag/dropped "two" route waypoints in the route window but, as soon as I drag/drop a "third" waypoint into the route window, Basecamp crashes. I also noticed after reopening Basecamp, the Global map appears instead of City Navigator. My newly updated City Navigator is 2020.1 version 23.10 which is the correct updated map. I'd like to add, I didn't have this issue with Basecamp 32 bit in O.S. High Sierra. Thanks again for your tutorial. Ray

Hi. I tried the same on my MacBook Air and it didn't crash. Can you try and set the activity profile to *Direct* and then create the route and add the waypoints, once that's done change the activity profile to *Driving* and then it will recalculate, maybe it won't crash that way. If it keeps happening contact me and we can set up a screen share or something to look into it.

Thank you for your help.... I tried what you stated through Basecamp Preferences and dragged/dropped five waypoints into the route window. It didn't crash but, the route didn't follow the roads. The route was straight between each waypoint even after I switched it back to Driving. I created this under City Navigator. Maybe we could do a screen share as you suggested tomorrow, just let me know what time would be best for you. I live in Michigan which is eastern time. I can't thank you enough for your help, I sincerely appreciate it. Thank you, Ray 😊

Hi Joby, Sorry I haven't responded back, I had an emergency come up. This morning I went ahead and dumped everything Garmin related. I reloaded Basecamp and Express along with all of its updates. At this point, I'm able to run Basecamp without any issues. I believe that my older routes from Basecamp 32 bit was conflicting with the 64 bit version. Anyway, I hope it's all cleared up. I do have a question if I may; How many waypoints can be used within a route with this newer 64 bit version? I'm hoping that Garmin has raised the amount to be used. I.M.O. along with many, many others, there shouldn't be a limit. I enjoyed MapSource for at least 15 years and never had a problem with a waypoint limit. Thanks again for offering your help, I sincerely appreciated it. Fingers crossed, all will be OK from here forward. Ray 👍😊

No worries. Good to hear you are up and running. So far as I'm aware there is only a limit for Waypoints that announce. So when you create the route double click on it and select all the way points except for the start and end point and click *Don't alert on arrival (shaping point)* then you can have as many as you like. There only seems to be an issue with waypoints that announce.
