Excellent! I just performed the treatment as per specifications to my 150L and 200L fish tanks and it appears to have some magical effects. I've noticed increased pearling from the plants afterwards and all fish are more active. The perscribed dosage was a little on the low side, as not a lot was happening. I then hit the tank after about 30-45 minutes with a syringe with another half dose in a more focused manner and thats when the real magic started. tons of bubbles from the stuff reacting! I think I'm going to make this part of my waterchange routine. Siphon water out, treat the lower volume of water, let it sit and refill. Possibly hit it with a small shot of fresh bacteria, too!

Hey Mark, great video. I have a lot of algae (some BBA) in my tank and I'll be using this method today. One important point of note for your US viewers; The overlay showing the dosage on screen is incorrect. One US gallon is 3.875 litres and not 4.5 litres as quoted. The UK Gallon is 4.54 Litres.

Further to my last comment, I have done my other tank and all is well, except I realised that my RICCIA FLUITANS has dies in both tanks. No other plants or shrimps had an issue but maybe because of the RICCIA FLUITANS plant structure. So I don't recommend this treatment to tanks that contain this plant.

Hi Mark. Great video, thanks for sharing. Couple of questions if I may please: - Why shut off the filter and why for 1 hour? Does the H2O2 harm the bio-filter and is it then gone from the water / safe after 1 hour? - Have you any experience with higher doses and what a safe maximum limit (for neo's) might be? - How often do you treat your tanks with H2O2? Many thanks, James :)

This video is awesome Mark! Hope all is well. I did a little research on Hydrogen peroxide and found out that it is light sensitive and will break down more quickly when the light are on. I recommend shutting the tank lights off as well during the hour of treatment, not sure if it makes a difference but if the theory is correct its worth a try, plus it may save you from having to do multiple treatments to get the desired effect.

Hey Mark. Great video as always. I used to use h2o2 in my fish tanks for years when treating algae or even bacterial infections. (In larger quantities than you use for shrimp so I assume shrimp are more sensitive to it than fish as my fish never were bothered by it) I now use in all my shrimp tanks once you confirmed safe dosage for shrimp safety. Thanks a lot for your videos. Also I believe it kills a large percentage of micro fauna (limpets, copepods, midge fly larvae) I had midge fly larvae in one tank and while not harmful it is very annoying. Small worm like lines stuck to glass and filter and small flys at the surface sometimes. It killed the midge fly completely.

The BBA is on a sponge filter right next to the bonsai tree with Subwassertang (along with other places) so want to make sure I don’t nuke the Subwassertang. I also have Fissidens (Phoenix) Moss, Water Wisteria and Dwarf Water Lettuce in this tank.

I have bba that is starting to get out of control. I'd like to treat my whole tank using this method and i'm assuming it'll take multiple treatments as I am treating 180 gallons tank. Can I get some assistance with figuring out what my actual water volume is so I can calculate the correct dosage? I have plants, shrimp, discus, tetras and so on so i'm really worried that i'll be harming the fish/plants.

No that is the absolute wonderful thing about H202 there is no nasty stuff left after using it, once it oxidizes organics it splits into pure oxygen and pure water, what I do is just do my weekly water changes on time regardless of when I did the H202 Treatment.

Hey Mark, so I tried this treatment for a bacterial infection on my yellow tiger shrimps, but unfortunately it didn't work. The bacterial strain didn't affect my neos. Now I'm just wondering if the bacteria will remain in the tank forever or will eventually die off. I want to get some babaultis in that tank but if they're gonna get inected and die the same way as the tigers, I'd rather not. What do you think?

Hey Mark - I have tried your dosing method of Hydrogen Peroxide in my tank. Turn off my powerhead and filter. Now waiting the hour. My question is, how long before I start to see the algae (I have hair/string algae) turning white? I was just wondering how long to wait before I try a second dose? Its mainly a shrimp tank with some neons and chili rasboras. I have a 32 Gallon and after doing 50% water changes weekly, I know my actual water volume is about 25 US Gallons. I dosed 37ML. Thanks again!

My god you were so right, my shrimps were not very active, two of the 11 almost lost their colours, and none came out for the blanched vegetables so I suspected some sort of bacteria problem, I followed your h2o2 instructions. There was a huge immediate difference. They are a lot more active now, it's like they got a breath of fresh air. I will check on the two losing colours when they pop out of hiding and I will try to give them some veggies hopefully they eat now

I can also say that peroxide treatment along with salt dips seems to be working for my treatment of Cladogonium Ogishimae (green fungus) and I was seeing no changes with just salt dips so pretty sure the peroxide is what is helping. Also, I use the metric system myself but a US gallon is under 4 liters, 3.78 or so, I believe.

Just do it everytime you see a problem with the tank. For me usually, just one treatment will do the job. Then i do a water change the next day and add new bacteria in. If the problem persist, do it again one week later. I've tried doing it twice a week, fish and shrimp seems to be fine but the snails didn't like it. They'll hide in their shell for 2-3 days after each treatment.

  • @MarksShrimpTanks

Hello sir good question, by itself no rainwater is not good for any type of shrimp because it has no mineral content , putting shrimp in just rain water would kill it. so you would need to buffer the water with minerals to do this you need a reliable TDS meter and some type of buffer.

Hello from the future. I know this is an old video, but! I have a question, and any help is greatly appreciated!! I can't find specific info on quarantining the colony that had one infected shrimp. It's pulled, but I'm wondering, and worried about the rest of the colony. So far no one (20-30 asst neo's w babies and 2 Bamboo/ Wood shrimp) is showing any signs. But how long do I need to quarantine this tank? Can I ever add new shrimp safely? Or remove to trade/ sell any shrimp in the future at all? I've read very mixed things as well about substrate. I immediately pulled my one infected Sunkist Neo and was so panicked I put him in a 6g cube I am cycling for a new shrimp colony😱. Will I need to completely dismantle and trash the substrate and plants?!? Or can I just wait a couple months for any possible spores to die? Do the spores die if they don't find a host? Any help is greatly appreciated! I see there's not much more info on this horrible infection in the past few yrs since this video was made😢.
