Follow these steps:
1) Open your portrait in Photoshop and create a new layer filled with 50% grey,
2) Rename it "DODGE" and change its blending mode to soft light,
3) Duplicate the layer and rename it "BURN",
4) Use the Channels tab to select highlight and non-highlight areas for dodge and burn, respectively,
5) Use a soft brush with white for dodge and black for burn to paint on the selected areas,
6) Whiten eyes, highlight eyebrows, mouth, and teeth for dodge, and contour the nose with burn,
7) Group both layers and adjust the opacity to your liking.
Watch your photos transform with this simple yet effective technique!

Can't we use Dodge and Burn tools to apply the effects instead of brush with black and white color? Burn and Dodge tolls has more options to apply .... highlights, midtones and shadows.

Pretty cool. Is there a reason why you didn’t use layer masks? Feel like that would be a better way to control the work flow… 🤔

So when to use your add shine technique? And when to use this dodge and burn instead? They are identical. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5untMyOotLadNI.html

The two are not the same. If you want a quick transformation of your skin's appearance, you can apply shine and glow. On the other hand, if you're aiming for a more polished and refined look like that of a professional model, it's recommended to use dodge and burn techniques after retouching and skin smoothing.
