For me, it was the search keywords part, but also I enjoyed watching the hole video it is really well put together and also you have good confidence in yourself and is another thing I admire in your video.

My struggle is all the KWs I find for my niche are low volume and high competition

How ever, my niche is related to horror stories, do you have any idea on how I can select the topics and do the SEO? as I was only able to find a couple of green keywords, the most keywords are in yellow. Thanks! In that case I'd look more toward using VidIQ to see what overall topics/genres people are interested in and create those kinds of topics. The titles in that case have to tick the few keywords that will make it make rank, but otherwise you should focus on making it clickable for a human - almost like clickbait, except that you deliver ;)

The Pro is very good! When you get more subs and VidIQ can get more data from you, you can upgrade to boost to see what your subscribers are watching and can adjust your content to that

Thanks for this! Very helpful. I find these methods work very well for the types of channels that do "how to" and "tips" but would you recommend following the same workflow for a channel that doesn't fall in those categories? for example cinematic visuals of nature etc.

Hm interesting - so I was actually a filmmaker before I started this service. If I were you I'd do cinematic visuals and films and combine it with tutorials and gear reviews - that way you'll get much more growth because you'll be solving people's problems (how to, tutorial videos) and developing trust with showing your expertise (cinematic visuals)
