Hi, I did my MBA in 2012 from Nepal, worked as a commercial banker for more than 5 years, and came to Australia to study MPA, which I finished in 2020. I studied Research Methodology as a part of my MBA course and had to do a Thesis as an MBA requirement. At MPA there was no such opportunity and did not have a research course to study either. Hence I want to do my PhD to enhance my horizon in research. Is it possible for me to pursue given my circumstances?

IELTS can be anywhere from 6.5 and above depending upon the university and your discipline. For example in law and medicine fields the requirement is higher. With a MPhil you can apply for PhD.

I have completed my, BBA in July 2022 via Distance education from Lovely Professional University, and looking to start for a MBA program, in Chandigarh University via Distance Education Program, after completing my MBA am i be an eligible candidate to start a PhD in Australia. Hi Sangita To answer your question it would depend upon whether you are undergraduate degree had some research project or whether when you were working for the last eight years were you involved in any research project? If you have participated and can show research experience, then you may not need publications. Some universities may except admission into Phil or PhD without a publication, so you may give it a try . Having publications only increases your chances of getting a scholarship. Thanks Vidy

The problem is RWTH Aachen is a top university in Germany for physics where the exams are very low scoring. So, I hope they don't misinterpret my grades.

hey just want to save you.. Dont ever apply in Australia for Ph.D. if your field is STEM. they don't give visas to stem students especially from India, pak and China. At least 50 of us waiting for more than 4 or 5 months some of us even more than 1 year.

You can do part time PhD in Australia if you have a PR but you will not get a scholarship if you’re doing PhD in a part time mode.

Hello. Could you please tell me when you did this? If it was in November December time then it may be that the Univ is busy processing existing applications and they are also going on Christmas and New Year holiday, this may have caused the delay in your application processing. Most universities will work in the second week of January so it may be a good idea that you send a reminder email asking the status of your application at that time.

Thanks Sakina. Yes, you can still apply for PhD if you do not have research publication. The university will assess your application and may offer a PhD. If not they may ask you to do MPhil or Masters by Research first. Sometimes you can also convert your MPhil to PhD, so you can finish it faster. Hope this is helpful. Thank you.

Hi Anudeep. I would say the first step would be to identify which university you want to pursue your PhD that has the appropriate expertise to guide your research. Next thing I suggest is you should look for Scholarship offerings from such universities and then prepare a strong scholarship application, including a convincing research proposal that outlines the research problem via a literature review and describes the methodology that you will use to undertake the research.

Hi Diksha, it was similar in my friend's case. He completed his masters at 2014. Then started his PhD in physics in New Zealand in 2017. If you did some research work like publishing papers or in some way connected to the scientific community like attending physics conferences in those 4 years, that would be help in getting a PhD.

There is no best time as such. You can send it anytime of the year. However, if you sent around December or January you may not get a quick response as many of us are on leave during that period. But other than that it should be okay. PhD programs are open all year long, so whenever you are ready you should start your application process.

Is there any specific information that you’re looking for that I have not covered in this video? For accounting and finance you should look for a PhD program from the business school. You also have the option probably to consider doing a DBA, which is Dr of business Administration.

Hi Taha. If you have lower than 70%, then your application maybe assessed on a case-by-case basis. Somethings that the assessment panel considers when assessing your application is if you have relevant work experience or if you have published any research papers in the same area as your PhD proposal. Thank you for your question. Is your CGPA from 4? If so, then you have very good score and applying for MPhil will not be a problem for you. Typically, most good universities but at least expect you to have distinction that is 70% or above or higher distinction, which is above 80%. You would need to prepare a short research proposal, two pages long, that you can send to potential supervisors and seek their interest in supervising you in your MPhil degree. Most universities in Australia have a online application system where you would submit all the required documents for your admission to MPhil program. No. GRE is not required for PhD admission in Australia. However, you would be required to complete English language exam like IELTS. Some universities also except PTE. IELTS is the preferred option, but PTE is also acceptable. And also keep in mind that different courses require a different score and hence I recommend you check the University website and their entry requirements and what score do you need for PTE.
