Seeing a pretty good view of where the front center jack point you're using is what I needed. I've seen the diagrams, but watching somebody else do it to their car first gave me the boost I needed. Before, I was lifting the front one side at a time...very slow. Thanks.

Nicely done. Even doing the nut job while the tires are above ground. Guess we can do that with an impact gun.

Hey Tyler, do you think you could do a video on doing the oil change with the jack stands? Thanks!

I could, but check this out... You don't need to put the car on jackstands to do oil changes. An easier and safer way, is to make ramps out of some 2x8s. Just drive the front wheels up onto the ramps and you'll have enough clearance that the you can lay under the car and you don't have to worry about it falling on you. To make the ramps, I cut 3 pieces of 2x8s (per ramp). I'm guessing here but let's say the bottom piece is 3ft, middle is 2ft, top is 1ft. Cut 45° angles on the ends of each piece, screw em together. Ta-da!

In the rear, where the control arms from the left and right come together there is a single bar, going left to right across the middle of the underbody near the exhaust tubing. That's the best I can really explain it without a photo. If you reference your manual there's an illustration of it. The front lift point is just behind all of the underbody plastic pieces. There is a flat piece of metal with a bunch of holes drilled into it, you can't miss it.

Where is the lift point in the front? Also, how many ton is that jack rated for? Last, why use the jack stands for rear of car when the Jack was lifting your car? I have a cx9. Thx!

Hi! The front lift point may be different on the CX-9. On mine, just behind all the underbody plastic pieces there is a flat piece of metal with a bunch of holes drilled into it. Assuming you have it too, one you get under there and poke around you can't miss it. I'm using a 3 ton jack. You can see the sticker rating on it at 0:06. It's unsafe to work on a car while it's supported by a floor jack as it is not a stable solution to have a car elevated on 3 points of contact. Also should the floor jack fail, down goes your car.

My friend told me a horrible story about a family friend being killed when working under s car and it slid off the Jack. Cracked his skull and killed him instantly. Better safe than sorry. I know you're not under the car and this type of maintenance. But...

Gotta be extra safe when working near and especially under your car. I have read these methods, and have done such ever since myself for being over redundant. I use chalks behind the back wheels when lifting up only the front, parking brake on. I drive up on wood/metal ramps. Just as an extra measure I will also put my jack touching the side of the car I'm working on. Probably over kill, but it takes an extra minute to do these things and you can never get your brain matter/guts back if your car falls on you.

@@camposuarez that is horrible - but thank you for sharing. It is a great reminder for practicing safety procedures when working on vehicles. Personally, I never get under a vehicle that is raised by only a jack or jack stands. I only get under a vehicle if it has been driven up on something like wooden ramps where nothing can collapse. OR... if it is on jack stands but there are wood blocks as a backup, if the jacks fail. Just an irrational (or possibly rational) fear of mine.

@@tylerbrengle9652 Hi Tyler, I tried so hard looking for the rear jack point (the single bar that you mentioned) but still unsure. does the middle of this bar sit further away from the ground, meaning the left and right portion of this bar sits closer to the ground? It also appears to have a hole in the middle, looks like hollow? And which portion of the bar did you place the Jack at? Thanks so much, my first time doing this!
