How to do Purvottanasana | East Side Stretch in Ashtanga Yoga

Though it brings a lot of benefits to the practice, Purvottanasana is the pose everyone seems to skip the most. Now, you’re going to find out why (and why it doesn’t deserve to be forgotten)!
In this tutorial, we’re discussing PURVOTTANASANA / EAST SIDE STRETCH from Ashtanga Yoga’s Primary Series. You’ll learn how to transition into and out of this pose with the traditional vinyasa cues and Sanskrit counts as well as some of the mistakes we see that make this pose more difficult than it needs to be! By watching Jelena demonstrate, you’ll know exactly where to put your focus to help avoid issues like hyperextension or hamstring cramping and where to pull strength from when you lift your hips into the air. We give you tips to find correct alignment in this pose so you can create stability and access the movement from a place of ease.

I never skip this one, I quite like it because I don’t like forward bends haha. One I tend to skip is triang mukha…

Most of the times I do Purvottanasana, I get a cramping kinda pain in my right calf. Today it was a proper cramp and I shad to stop my practice. Will you please with help with that?
i really hate it!!! and that’s way i never forgot it… and ever skip it! (ok, hate is a strong word… but i don’t like it…)
