Im thankful for this.. atleast I learned something from your video.. It gave me an idea how to use the tools / modifier. Sketchup very good at this kind of modelling because it precise.. always working with measurement.. no 'eyeball'.. And I think max can do it too. There must be a way to work with correct size and distances. I will give a try on max base on your video.

Ab easy method, you can use image for grass with material and textures.

From 9:52 you started removing polygons and it become hollow and u did not fixed it in whole design... How to fix that???

Removing polygons according to design . here is 2 or 3 option use box or select edges and extrud them if you want fill it

Any brand you can select hp dell are better but minimum RAM 8gb is require for learn basics. In advance level you will Improve specs upto 16 gb RAM and graphic card minimum 2 gb and 6th or 7th Gen system.
