How To Do Messi Skills In Football - Zig Zag Dribble Tutorial (+ Training Drills)
Learn this awesome Messi Skill; the Zig Zag Dribble. This video explains all the details step by step.
We take a look at why the zig zag dribble is so effective, when you can use the zig zag to beat defenders and where on the pitch the zig zag is best used.
In the second part of this tutorial we cover all techniques that Messi uses when he applies the zig zag during real games. From the moment he accelerates to approach the defender at high speed to the moments where he changes direction to outplay his opponent.
In the third part of this video we show you the best drills to practice the zig zag dribble at home. There are two close ball control drills that cover the basic technique. One is a basic dribble with touching the ball in the following pattern: Outside, inside, outside, inside. The other is dribbling with only your outside foot and adding a feint step before you cut the ball.
In this part we also show you a basic drill with 6 cones in a zigzag pattern, so that you can apply the first 2 close control dribbles.
Enjoy the video and have fun practicing the Zig Zag Dribble!

The beauty of Messi’s game is that he keeps it simple. He isn’t flashy, he’s pragmatic. It’s truly beautiful.

True and like Cruyff said, playing simple football is the hardest thing there is. That requires a lot of practice and playing football.

Awesome, keep working hard to improve your football skills and techniques ⚽️🔥
So basically you only use your strong foot like Messi or is there another veration?

Great question! While Messi predominantly uses his strong foot in these examples, there are variations where you can incorporate both feet to control the ball when the situation requires it. See also in our how to train section of the video. Thank you for your comment 🙏
