As a professional nail tech, I am AMAZED that you can get your crystals to last for 3/4 weeks using only top coat as the glue. I have to use gem gel or my clients lose them immediately. Lol

I did lose a few at the tip but with the Makarrt rhinestone adhesive they don’t budge. I used it for my red rhinestone French tips and didn’t want to remove the set. 😂 they held up so good.

Right, so I'm a ham fisted 35 year old IT guy trying to learn how to do nails for my other half. I don't get the gluing step...I'm getting copious squeeze out AND air bubbles. It should be impossible to get both, surely. I've tried all sorts, applying the glue in thin coats to both nail and extension; applying a glob of glue to the base of the extension and sliding it down; applying a thick layer of glue just to the nail...every time the same thing.

I would try using less gel glue and I only apply the glue to the gel extensions not my nail. It sounds like you could be using a lot of glue, what glue brand are you using? I prefer thicker brands of the glue as well that may also help do that it doesn’t slide off.

@@JourneyswithJai I'm not sure what the brand is but my other half has this thick stuff that you can barely get out the jar (small pink jar with a black top) but I got the same thing with that; air bubbles in the middle and squeeze out on the edges. I'm pretty good with a Dremel so the squeeze out is easy to deal with but the extensions come off after a couple of days...I think maybe the extensions have a lot more curve side-to-side than her nails do - is that a thing? 🤔

@@nr1288 idk if you've figured something out by now but the curve is a thing!!! have you tried using a thinner glue? maybe the glue is just too thick to sit comfortably under the nail! the beetles nail glue is really good. if that doesn't work you could try polygel to attach the nail instead of the nail glue, however this is much thicker but it might adhere better!!

@@nr1288 make sure to buff the nail from any shine because it can cause lifting and that makes the nail come off after a couple days. Also never use a nail size that’s too big for your other half’s nail!! It can also make it come off easily so if you’re stuck between two sizes do the bigger side just file down the sides until they fit perfectly against their nail plate. Otherwise it sounds like you’re using too much glue so definitely try different amounts! Good luck!

Definitely look for nail tips that are _not sculpted_ because it sounds like you're saying she has nail beds that are on the flatter side. Most vendors show the side profile of the tips as well. Using the shape closest to hers also means needing a lot less glue to fill negative space. Agree with the others to try a thinner formula and use way less in addition to buying the right shape. Love that you're intent on getting it just right for her 💜

Hello! I love your videos ! I need some help , I just purchased my first set. I ordered the medium almond gel x by apres. They are too small for my nails and my nail beds are too flat. The ones that fit the size of my nails, are too arched. Does this mean I need to get a large size apres set? Or should I order something else to fit my flatter nail beds ? Hi! It sounds like you would benefit from using their natural nail tips instead of the sculpted ones they are much better if you have a slightly flatter nail bed 🤍

Can we use builder gel instead of the glue ?

It is recommended to apply the gel extensions with gel glue. Builder gel is meant merely to strengthen and build up your nail. I hope this helps 🤍

Is it just me or is removing cuticles is difficult 😢 I tried to gelx on my nails last night and I guess I did something wrong because my cuticles hurt so bad that I just took them off. I think I may have put too much glue and got it on my cuticle when applying the nail . I’m not sure what I did wrong but are you suppose to kinda get the nails under the cuticle area or is it placed right in front of it?

Hey girl, I do my own gel-x nails and to answer your question simply, no you’re not meant to place them under the cuticle. You’re meant to place it around 0.5mm away from the cuticle careful to not get any gel on the skin or cuticle. Try it next time you do your nails and I’m sure it won’t be painful ❤ I love this creator but I also recommend watching a video called ‘HOW TO APPLY GEL-X THE RIGHT WAY - the overlay method’ by the creator ‘Neophyte nails’. Hope this helps
