When I change the fuel filter I don’t add diesel, if you turn the ignition on the fuel pump primes the system for about 3 seconds, by turning the ignition on and off a few times the filter self primes, it saves having to mess about with diesel.

ai ya shouldnt run the pump dry like that really. its just strain isnt it. for the sake of adding a bit of diesel i prefer this method

Hi, the prime thing with the key worked on older b6 passat not on b7 and b8, if you dont have vcds you can fill the canister with diesel like he did.. but if you change injectors or fuel rail you really want to prime the lines.if not your high pressure pump can get dry and thats not so good

Good man ur self i did mine last saturday,, it was good to have it done before the weather breaks , i used Castrol 5w --30 , its amazinng how VW went back and is using paper fiters ,Toyota is doing the same on some of thier engines also , i prefer the cannister type filter by the way im 61 yrs and still flying it no pit no lift just hit the ground like the pope and get on with it cheers for now

Both are around 25nm and oil is around 4.6L Always check with your part shop who supply the oil and they will sell you the correct amount.

Thanks for the video, very comprehensive. I guess you flush engine with a low cost oil (5W30) and then use a better quality oil like MOBIL1 ESP, right?

I hate taking those torq screws on fuel filter

I just want to know that is it necessary to prime the fuel pump with vcds because you haven't shown in the video, i have the same 2015 car and i want to change my fuel filter as well but I'm a bit sceptical that i might damage the fuel pump.there are ao many threads online that say that one has to prime the fuel filter.

Just do as I did in the video by filling the fuel filter housing with fuel after replacing the filter.

Turn the ignition on don't start the car switch off ignition back on don't start car Half fill. The Fuel housing before putting filter in as filter will soak some fuel. Top up.slightly

I have a Passat Alltrack B8 and would really like to pay the VW dealership, here in Australia, to actually get rid of the dirty oil like you do. Maybe I'd be able to ward off the dreaded upper carbon sludge blocking the air intake valves starting at 60,00km.

Hey. I have a 2013 VW Passat TDI. Is this full service the same as what you did? Also how often are you suppose to change Air Filter and Fuel Filter should it be done with every oil change?

fuel and air filter every 30-35k as far as I know

It's the seal for the 13 mm sump screw

There’s a little drain plug in the middle of the main 36mm oil filter socket. It’s for that.
