Hi Rob, Many thanks for your videos. I enjoy your gentle, relaxed presentation style, and the way you cover everything in detail with live demonstration. Exposure compensation in manual mode is something I wanted, and your video is very helpful. It works fine on my E-M1 Mk III, but I could not get it to work on my old E-M1 Mk I. I tried all kinds of menu options, and looked for a camera update, but no luck. I resorted to reading the manual, and the Mk I just doesn't have the capability (Page 51) - all it does when the exposure comp button is pressed is to allow shutter and/or aperture to be changed. I doubt OM Systems will do an update at this stage, but if anyone has a Mark I this might save them some time spent trying to make it work. THE E_M1 MARK I DOES NOT OFFER EXPOSURE COMPENSATION IN MANUAL MODE. Best Regards

thank you so much for this video, I could not get it to auto iso in manual and thought it was because it's a omd em mII but thanks to your video I set it to auto iso in manual. Such an improvement it was my main frustration with this camera allthough it is my first camera so I cannot compare it to another camera

Great question! If you look at the ISO indicator, it started blinking when this happens. So the camera has hit an ISO limit. Anything I dial in beyond that limit will show on the EV scale in the opposite direction. So if I dial in -2 exposure comp, but the camera hit an iso limit at -1 exposure come, the scale will read +1, telling you the exposure you dialed in will actually be 1 stop brighter than you are trying to achieve.
off topic, what L- Bracket would work on the OM-1 thank you, Mike

I've been looking at the Really Right Stuff L-bracket but it's a bit pricey for what I want. I'm waiting to see what other 3rd party options come out.

Hello Rob, please can you explain, with my e-m10 II, how to keep the aperture and shutter settings fixed when using exposure compensation. With wildlife shots I need to retain my A and S settings but often need more exposure, for example to brighten a bird's underside against a light background in flight. Even with auto ISO, when I use the EV comp button, either the aperture or shutter settings will change. I know this does not happen with the e-m5 or e-m1. Am I limited with my e-m10 II or is there a solution? Thanks.

Hello Rob, i cant use exposure compensantion in manual mode in my omd M1 classic...:( , do you known why?

Exposure comp works via Auto-ISO in manual mode. You need to go into Menu E -> ISO-Auto -> ALL. Then in manual mode, select Auto-ISO. I don't have an EM1 classic to double check, but that should be it. Let me know. -Rob
Hi rob. I have to ask a question if I may? When your in manual, I see your display going lighter or darker when you change your settings. I love the idea of more control but my m10 display doesn’t change whatsoever which makes it very difficult to learn lighting. Am I missing some setting for this? As it is, aperture mode using exposure lock and exposure compensation is a lot easier. Thanks for any info you can give. Ric.

Hi, Ric. I'm glad my new video helped.
Hi Rob, it doesn't work for my E-M5 Mark ii. Is that correct? Thanks

Unfortunately, that is correct.
I have all my settings on my E-M1 set to yours, yet when I press and hold the exposure comp button it just changes the shutter speed, not the exposure comp. I can't figure out why.

Your fn2 button is probably disabled. Go into the Button menu and make sure the fn2 button is assigned to "Multi-Function".
Thanks!
