I have been using the dip method for 2 years. I have many tricks that work well and decrease the time it takes to perfect this technique. I use Kiss nail glue as the (glue)1st step. I use a small tray that holds the powder and place my nail on top of the powder gently. I do this to all nails, brush of excess and start again. 2-3 "dips". I then use the activator (purchased separately at Sally's) on all nails. Twice. Next I smooth and shape as needed. Use activator one more time. If you want, you can now use regular polish and follow with a topcoat. Or, if you have a colored powder, use regular top coat. Works well and I get 2 weeks out of this technique. You can buy everything separately at Walmart except the activator. Good luck!

@@jordanquintana464 It isn't hard to change polish color. Just use a paper towel with remover quickly and buff the dip powder coat to remove any little rough bits, then polish again. I use the remover Soak it Off (blue) from Walmart to remove the acrylic. I wet a cotton ball with it and place it on my nail. I use those pink clippy things that you can get online (Amazon). They hold the cotton in place. I do one hand at a time. Usually takes 10 minutes max for each hand. I then rub the nails with a nice oil. This hydrates the nail. Good luck.-Joy

@Sarah Lewis I use the activator from Sally's Beauty Store. The one I have came with a pump spray. I pour some in a clean nail polish bottle and use this to brush it on. Easier to control and not wasteful. You can clean an old nail polish bottle with a bit of remover. Then rinse it out and let dry completely. Good luck.
I have dip kit and my first attempt wasn’t too bad but I didn’t know what I was doing so this clears up the mistakes I made. I haven’t tried to dip my nails in 2 years, so this was very reassuring 💖

Tressa Wells definitely try again! My first dip attempt was on my mom like 4 years ago and when I say it was awful....omg it looked like blobs lol
This video ended up in my suggestions and I am very glad it did. I tried dip power almost a year ago and struggled and got rid of alot of the stuff but kept some jars in case I wanted to try again. Listening to you I know I made a ton of mistakes! I cant wait to try again. Thank you!
Love love love this video!!! It taught me everything I needed to know about doing my new Revel nails with tips and they turned out as good as the salon! I love how she easily explains things and her voice is very calming to me... it was just my fave video I’ve found so far!!! Thank you Gabby! 💕
Great video, I use a dehydrator or primer on the tip of my natural nail before adding the false tip and yes, the bond adhesive of the base layer really sticks to the nail and actually lasts longer than nail glue.
Fantastic video! I'm so glad I came across you. I'm trying dip nails for the first time in about 12 years. My first attempt was yesterday and while it didn't go too badly I really wish I'd seen this video first. Still, you live and learn and I will re-watch this video again before my next attempt. I know it will make all the difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video for us :)
Thank you so much hurrah I've learned a lot After spending 23 years of accrylic nails, im doing my own now and saving a fortune, practice practice But thank you for your help

My best friend swears by dip nails, but every time I’ve gotten them professionally done, they are so bumpy and thick. I don’t have hours and hours to spend filing my nails until they’re all even. I don’t know how people perfect these! I would love to learn because it does seem like a nice alternative to my typical gel polish.

Veronica Anderson it really just takes practice! I like to take my time with the pro base to make sure I’m not getting a thick uneven layer of dip powder..also using a more opaque dip powder will help too that way you only need 2 dips so it won’t require too much filing
@justinechoiiii

I found that if my nail tech waits too long after applying the base and then dipping into the powder, the end result is uneven. I think the base may dry faster in some areas resulting in a blotchy finish. I would apply the base and dip right away! Also when applying the powder the dipping method is good because it’s an even in/out layer of the powder, but in the case like this video where the nail is too long then the technique she used is good. Definitely takes a lot of practice and a lot of the time nail techs are rushing trying to get to the next client. Wish you luck!! Love dip powders. 🥰

@@joanna9014 Thank you for the suggestion. But I do my own nails at home. I tried dip at the salon, assuming they’d do it best. I tried a few times. My nails always came out terrible, no matter what salon I went to. I always had to fix them once I got home. So I have been doing them at home for about 6 months now, and thankfully I have perfected them so they look better than they ever did from a salon. I have been doing gel nails at home for years, so I’m sure that experience helped a bit.
Hey Miss Gabby! Just a quick question: I see you have tried several different kits from different brands. Which one do you like the best? Which one do you think is the best for beginners? I want to try dip powders, but I have NEVER dipped before lol... I just hate how thick and 'bubbly' they always look because of dipping 4x-5x... I mainly want to try them to grow my nails out a little longer.. but I want something that I only need to dip like2x to get good color pay off and add a bit of strength and protection. while avoiding that bubble-look lol. Looking forward to yours or anyone else's replies! Thanks yall. Stay safe!! ❤️️
This has inspired me to try to do my own nails. Thank you!

❤beautiful, mine didnt look like that!😮
Great job
You may want to do that on a darker background because you can't really see the nail tip when you file and when you work on it because it's clear
Very pretty... I love pink...
Great video
Can you use regular acrylic powder for this?
Hi, Do you have to do one nail at a time or can do one coat of dip powder on all nails and then proceed to apply a second dip powder coat to all nails? Thanks!
Love the nails and color! Great job... Question why is it whenever I put on Tips it always makes my nails look weird like not natural looking am I doing something wrong like your nails that you can’t even tell you’re wearing tips mine don’t like so wide I try to shape them but they still look weird
Great video, this is my fist time doing my own nails and you helped me so much! 💖💅🏼
Is a nail dehydrator the same as a primer ? Or is there a difference between those two?
Awesome video. Only suggestion is wouldn't have mentioned was using acetone as a dehydrator because it smoothes out your nail which then defeats the purpose of roughing up the surface. Rubbing alcohol is good though.
These look amazing! I tried a kit 2 weeks ago, didnt turn out smooth, needed alot of filing. What buffer/ file did you use, how many coats of dip???
Now I understand why mine look so messy. Its because I put the base glue for the powder to stick on to close to the cuticle :'D I taught always that nail techs went all the way near the cuticle when doing gel or powder nails but mine looks bulky when doing that compared to your nails.
How do I take off the tips & dip at the end? 100% acetone?
Do you have to use a clear powder...
Can I use nail bond to dehydrate?
Do you have to do the clear first?
Did you cure at all? I’m doing my nails tomorrow and was just wondering if I cure my nails will it mess up or be ok
What base did you use? Like not brand, I mean in general to stick your nails

How do you remove without dip powder without melting the tips with acetone?
Was it hard to switch colors or take it off?
Can you use a gel top coat with this method?
Beautiful 💅💅💅💅💅💅💅🦋

is the top gel basically top coat?
Thanks for this,I want to give it a try but am confused I ddnt see you cure your nails in a uv lamp. This process doesn't need to?
After glue u add the activator?

How long do the nails last ? 😊
Good morning, can you do this technique with a full shape fake nail?
Where is this product made? Does the bottle say?
Hi! So when you want to remove the color and you soak your nails, does the nail tip come off too? Or can you just remove color and change it with same nail tip? Just wondering if you have to put nail tips on each time until your real nails grow enough? Thanks!
@GabbyAngelique
3 жыл бұрын
hi! yes when you soak off the nails the tip will also soak off You could change the color by painting over the nails. You could also use normal nail polish over dip and change that color by using nail polish remover that doesn't have acetone, that way it doesn't soak off the nail
How many times should you dip
Wow, this is my first time, but how long do the nails last
