I have been stitching for 40 years. I have done buttonhole stitch many, many times; but, I always struggle with getting it started. I finally think I have it down thanks to this video. But I have also saved it, in case I still can’t remember how to start it next time.Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve referred to your videos. Whenever I don’t know a stitch, can’t remember a stitch, or need to improve a stitch, Sarah’s channel is where I come. I’m SO thankful for your videos, Sarah, and appreciate how well done they are. And a giant shout out to Jonathan for the camera work.

I'm learning a lot from your video tutorials and I thank you for that. You have lovely hands and, of course, being an American, I'm in love how you speak.
One of the best stitching tutorials I've seen! I really appreciate the view angle so I can see how you place the stitches as if I was watching over your shoulder. Extremely helpful! THank you

Glad it was helpful Elizabeth!
Thank you clarifying the difference in these stitches.
Sarah, thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Would you, please show us the proper way to do the corners? And how to do different shapes, like when you're using the blanket stitch to attach appliques?

@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery You’re brilliant - thanks! ❤️
This is my next stitch to learn you make it so easily to follow always love your videos
I learned basic blanket stitch as a child. I have used it many times over the years, in particular because I was a Guide leader and camp blankets are traditionally edged with blanket stitch. You are usually so focused on showing us how to start off stitching. Today I decided to make a felt needle holder and use different blanket stitches on each pair of pages. I soon realized that I always find it difficult to start stitching blanket stitch neatly. So I searched for this video. I can’t believe that for once, on a different type of fabric, you demonstrated a stitch that can usually be seen both front and back, yet you didn’t show us how to start off this very different stitch. I managed today by hiding my threads in the felt, but this won’t be possible on different fabric. Please can you show us how to start and end this stitch on different fabrics please.
Спасибо за Ваши уроки.

Добро пожаловать!
Thank you. I wished you would’ve shown the left handed way as well!
I’m confused! I always thought that blanket stitch and buttonhole stitch were worked differently, with buttonhole stitch having knots along the ‘rope’ edge. Or is this only in dressmaking/tailoring?

I've not seen that stitch Linda... knots on the tail ends is knotted blanket stitch
Which type of cloth are you using for embroidery??
