    Followed it to a tee other than not using the drill which I came to regret.......I'll follow it 100% next time! I used a torque wrench and the specs to be sure and worked clean. Great step-by-step fool-proof (except when the fool doesn't listen 100%) video! Subscribed.

    I have the same chassis and engine but in a Touring model this it was a great video I appreciate it. I found out that I was running my oil below the low line I don't know how long but I don't see any drips. I do have to get oil in it I'm ashamed of myself that I didn't check it soon enough. Isn't this system a oil tank system rather than a crankcase fill? No lights came on last year when I put it away. I bought an oil change kit but I will just add oil this year and in summer I will do a full will change like you did.

    @@4SeasonBros I have a 2009 1200 (the 2012 1200 never uses coolant or oil) and it either leaks or burns oil and also leaks coolant. I heard there's an issue on the 2009's with the oil cooler that leaks coolant on the coolant side but not sure about the oil issue. For both problems I sure don't want to start disassembling the motor so just keep adding oil and coolant and did that for 3 seasons now. But that's the reason I got a 4 stroke in the first place, so I don't need to carry oil, well now I carry oil AND coolant........kind of ironic. Love the sled other than that but I get sick of having to check and add every day. Thanks for the great video but I don't have a service manual and don't know the torque values if you have them? I hate trusting my feel and use torque wrenches on everything as I'm just very careful and don't want to strip anything.

    Do you check you oil when the engine is cold (wrong way) or after it's been running for awhile (correct)? The dipstick is very hard to read as it somehow, seemingly impossibly, can be wet on one side and dry on the other!! WTH? Anyway, it may read low when cold but is fine if you check again once warm. If you fill it to to the line cold it'll be over full and you could presumably blow a seal maybe oil goes out some vent and wastes it. I have no idea but do know over-filling can be bad too but if you checked it cold and it was low......it may not have actually been low.

    Don't take the drain plug out all the way then the oil runs down the drain plug and not in your belly pan!

    Don’t remove the drain plug. Just crack the seal until the oil comes out in a nice steady stream. Once it gets low enouhh then remove the filter and then you can remove the drain plug the rest of the way. That way you don’t have any oil in the belly pan

    When I bought my 1200 the dealership failed to tell me you need to run it for 30 secs or so before you check oil level on the dipstick.Lucky I never added oil because the dipstick doesnt show any oil when cold.I heard some guys over filled there motor cause of this.

    I have a 2012 GSX SE and can't find it either so was thinking it may be under the seat. But 'doh!' I can't get the seat off either.....wow they don't make it easy. I looked seemingly everywhere. The ZX chassis was so much easier to work on. There's not even an chaincase filler dipstick so sure not straightforward to check level. I ran it a few years and just assumed there was oil in there. Maybe there's a plug near bottom you open and then fill from top until it dribbles out hole (or you can see it up near top of threaded hole). Seems pretty crude though. I have a 2009 as well and it either leaks or burns oil and also leaks coolant as I heard there's an issue on the 2009's with the oil cooler that leaks coolant on the coolant side. For both problems I sure don't want to start disassembling the motor so just keep adding oil and coolant. But that's the reason I got a 4 stroke in the first place, so I don't need to carry oil, well now I carry oil AND coolant........kind of ironic. Love the sled other than that but I get sick of having to check and add every day.

    Sorry but I have to ask. How do I 'open the hood' on my new 2017 ski doo expedition 1200 4 TEC? I| am 61 years old and my last machine was a 1996 Tundra II. I live in a small town way up north. Thanks in advance.

    T 45 and just crack it loose. It will drain right. Grabbed a T 40 and stripped mine. Then I had a problem. Got it out. Need a new plug now. $35. Rest of the information is accurate.

    What an absolute horrible design to drain the oil. I has a Yamaha Vector and it had a large access under the sled so when you drained the oil it did not drain out of every hole in the chassis. I will be doing an oil change on my Renegade 1200 this afternoon and I don't look forward to cleaning up the oil mess. Any way thanks for the video.

    Be thankful u have the vector. I just did my buddies 1200..easy peasy with a spring puller. Now u wanna talk crappy design flaw.?? My apex.... that baby takes a 3 pack to get her done. Airbox removed after 4 Intake boots accessed, wires everywhere, battery out and battery box removal. Then u better have small hands..... impossible to do it without getting oil all over the pan. Lots of rags... and yet... ill never get rid of it... just broken in at 20,000km now.

    I can't imagine why you would cover and electric drill with oil or even use it in the first place.

  • @shavedape

    @shavedape

    2 жыл бұрын

    Because I didn't listen to him and removed it by hand which is much slower and got my hands etc. covered in hot oil.....with the drill, you remove it quickly and get out by letting plug drop into pan so not much if any gets on the drill itself. Especially if you have a wobble end extension or universal to get it further out of the way.
