Loved this video because it’s the most helpful on rodent control I’ve ever seen! Gives me some more ideas where to look at what else can be done. I did get Xtruder to put in holes. Thank you sir!

No. a spark defuser is fine, shuting the flap in fire box is ok. Check where eves of home overlap each other for holes and air vent screens on roof.

What's the best bait that's still allowed in CA to kill mice?

Question about the bait stations: How does this keep rodents ~ 30 ft from the property? Isn’t it just poison ☠️ inside they eat? I want to keep the mice out of the RV and our buildings and currently installing the Xtruder steel mesh product on the home (RV I’ll figure out later). I’m tempted to purchase the bait boxes to put around per your suggestion but here is my concern: Would it have a high chance of killing any owls, hawks, neighbor’s cats 🐈, if they happened to prey on the mouse at the wrong time? OR, if a dog decided to be gross 🤢 and eat a dead mouse it found before we did (or the maggots did anyway)? I ask just because so much life of all kinds here (I just dont want it inside our structures or vehicles (like the RV)! 😱): We have a busy highway and public walking trail along the front of our 2 adjacent properties, which are very busy w dog walkers, plus we have a large river (Columbia River near Portland and Vancouver) in our backyard, with lots of birds, animals, and fish, of all kinds! Need the mice out of RV and properties but don’t want to harm unnecessarily other species in the process?? Could it? 🌊 🦅 🐭 🐟 🦝 🐿 🐶 🐈 🦉 🐍 🕷 🚶 🚶‍♀️ 💦 🌊

Those boxes are designed to control populations of the nesting rats/mice in and around home. And if refilled regularly with bell labs bait any new rat trying to nest around your home/rv will have to establish food and water, these rodent boxes pull them from there normal food before establishing nesting around home. More expensive baits work better then low cost ones. This is the best long term solution as rat and mice will chew new hole is population increases. California pass law to reduce secondary poisoning but if you want no poison those boxes can house regular no poison traps but you will need 5 x as many boxes then with baiting. Also they will have to be checked and reset more often raising trip charges. But we do no poison accounts and school this way with no poison it just cost more.

@@Wheelerspc we live on the river so we probably shouldn’t do the poison boxes due to all the beautiful birds and other animals here (and our dogs). We get owls and eagles so I’d hate to poison them. I probably just need to attract MORE 🦉 🦉 🦉 of them to get the mice!! A nice Owl army! Just not the screech owls like in the Movie “My Cousin Vinny” or all probably come out of the house I’m middle of the night in my underwear and leather jacket at winter time! 😂 (kidding…well kind of! I’ve done similar things! And I’m a woman not a man like Vin).

@@Wheelerspc oh and thank you by the way for responding! 😄 You should teach classes - everyone really should know this information. People make so much more work for ourselves through ignorance and or not being organized enough or driven enough to be proactive. It’s too bad the home designs don’t always come w instal manuals that consider pests as a priority - they ought to drill that into both contractors / builders heads as well as home owners and any tenants and landlords. I’m an ex engineer (mom now, plus co-property manager w my husband to 4 lex we one next to us). Worked in high tech semiconductors focusing on “manufacturing defects” and excursion control as we made the different computer chips - kind of similar to what you do actually! Inspectors and excursion control! Then we try to TEACH how to fix and maintain (with my kids now, and hubby “a little” lol).
