Took me longer than I care to admit to figure out this was satire.

mankymoo but it is only half-sattire. See, the person who clicks on this video probably has the intention of being a dj for a birthday party, prom, bar/bat mitzvah, etc. NOT to apply for a dj job at a club.

Batsy Blackheart ITS NOT SERIOUS?!?
"Now I'm going to stop the music right there..." Five seconds later... "Now when playing heavy genres of music such as drum & bass or (plays music) dubstep..."
Solid advice, I watched it twice.
I know it's satire, but it still hurts to watch haha
lol "drunk people are rational" and "inebriated clubbers always listen to what you have to say". this is hilarious!
I knew he wasn't serious when he said you need laptop instead of turntables to be a DJ :D

I think that's for amateur DJs. In which case, if I am a DJ in the near future, then just give me a laptop and I'm fine, besides, my elementary and middle schools did that for music DJs.

Most DJ's I know use both.
Now do a tutorial just for me: how to dj and rap at the same time.
It seems like dave went to club the night before this video and was not very satisfied by the dj
I like how he makes a gun shape with his hands as he says “heath and safety is vital”
I feel like your dead-pan sarcasm gave me asthma! Good job.
It's 2015 and I still don'tknow if he's serious or not.

I love this! I like how it actually teaches you how to be a DJ but also simultaneously making fun of often stupid and mainstream things things popular DJ's do during their sets.

it all depends on your preferred program. for traktor there's not much better than the kontrol S2. As for Serato, I use a Numark Ns6 and its been fantastic. Overall though, the best setup I can recommend would probably be pioneer CDJ's and mixer. its expensive, but you can use software with them as well as CD's and flash drives. Not to mention if you master those you could effectively DJ on just about anything (except maybe vinyl.) If you have the money and are serious about DJ'ing, that would be the best option. just be ready to spend around $5000

Are you being as sarcastic as Dave is?
your sarcastic video tutorials brighten my British/Canadian days
lmfao, "make sure it's 10 dB louder than the rest of the music." Just in case you didn't catch the hyperbole, the dB is a relative measure of sonic intensity or power. The scale also logarithmic... so let's just say that 80 dB is 100 units. Add ten dB, now you have 90 dB. How many units is that? 1,000.
@ryanrthrockmorton
7 жыл бұрын
Eric Bishton shouldn't it be that each dB is 100 units? then the total between 80dB and 90dB would be 1,000 units. or not... maybe I'm thinking this through too far?
@Xeryun
6 жыл бұрын
No. If 80dB is 100 units then 70 dB are 10 units.
as a dj, this is hilarious and hurts my soul at the same time
This is one of the funniest videos I've watched in a while, seriously.
Thank you for this video. I myself know very little about what DJs do so sometimes we have misunderstandings with my brother who is a DJ, but this video gave me an idea on what is actually going on.
Wow. A Boyinaband sarcastic video where less than 20% of the people whatching think it is serious? What is this???

+GabzitoHD How to DJ Step 1: Buy 2 turntables and mixer Step 2: Spend years collecting records from all different genres of music Step 3: Be able to perfectly synch two playing records by using just your ears and pitch sliders. Step 4: Be able to do this for hours. HOURS. Taking the dancefloor into different moods and genres smoothly Step 5: Do this for years while staying original, exciting and fresh. Step 6: On top of all this, probably producing music yourself inbetween.

yeah it kinda is a joke. these are things you want to avoid as a dj. basically take some from the video, the rest is just comedy.
If those are some of the more common ones of your clubbing experiences than you have my deepest condolences. Nicely done^^ I laughed so hard at the BPM matching part with dat horn :D
Every time i spin at my local club, i make sure to use these tips.
For all the people that think he is serious....he is not.
Now, I'm no musician, and certainly no dj, but I get the feeling this video is at least 15% sarcasm...

I had the pleasure of DJing a bar in town that is mostly known for "old people" I work at a radio station and the owner was a client of ours. The sales manager gave him my number and we talked. The deal was DJ for 4 hours, playing music the patrons would enjoy. Also this was the first Saturday of 2015 (Jan 3) and right after all the New Years Parties. So he wanted entertainment for the people who'd show up. Well at first I was playing "Today's best country" for some of the people there. They seemed to enjoy it. I added some old rock n roll for the older people. At one point there were some ladies wanting some "newer stuff" but I got my library of music completely last minute so I had the best of hits up to 2012. I played those songs till they left and added a slow song to the mix every so often. Was it the best experience? It wasn't an awful time although I was coming down with a cold. I had a mic set up just incase but didn't even bother using the damn thing. Would I do it again? Well I'd prefer playing an actual instrument for people but it wasn't like I could just play bass for four hours and call it a show (I can't sing, and I couldn't get even pretend to get a band together for such a thing) But I would because I'm broke and doing anything to support myself on my own. Anybody have something similar?

My Dad had bought a £40 DJ course that I haven't even used since the first tutorial. This is so much more convenient and clear :)
This is amazing
i don't know how i got here but this is hilarious, imagine the poor fool that believes they just found the holy grail... Sorry if your weekend ends up like this.
to all the people asking if this is a joke, you are joking right? ooOOOooo inception
Einfach nur hammer!!! Endlich mal ein tutorial was sagt wie es richtig geht :D Go on !!!!
BEST TUTORIAL EVER.
Spot on Dave, spot on!
By far my favorite are the talking djs. Gotta love it! There is literally no reason to use the mic, you're music should speak for itself.
God, I love this video, I watch it whenever I need a laugh.
its all metaphorical, brilliant
Dude, LOVE this sarcasm here.
Best. DJ. Tutorial. Ever.
There are still more people than ever before who truly love the art. :D
Loved this.
this is useful. keep up the good work mate! :)
Very nice video! I learned alot watching this Vid thanks alot Dave ^,^
This was awesome!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO
What makes it so good, is that some of it is true, such as that clbbers have an extremely short memory span
This is brilliant
I was gonna get those Sennheiser headphones, but I ended up going with the headset with the mic. It's still really good, well worth the money,
this is hilarious, hes obviosly sarcastic, i think he is talking about what like some people think how easy it is to be a dj, well its not. its hard and u need t obe skilled, boyinaband is awsome! keep the music up :D
Well this was really funny and entertaining video, more humoristic videos like this would be awesome :)
I recommend the Numark 1cd-mix3 for beginners. No laptops! You can get one for about $350. It has 2 cd players and a mixer all in one. Good pitch control and XLR outs. Reads MP3's from CD and is well made.
hahah that sample part was the best with the horn :D just last night i was playing with a dj who kept using that :D
That was brilliant !

D Dumas I'm talking about his humour, I like it, when people make you believe they are being serious, and slowly you start to doubt, and by the half of the video you're absolutely sure they're joking, and then you start to really enjoy it.
When ever i watch a how to video i feel the need to try it.
thx i actually saw you first in one of minx's videos
At first I thought you were being serious about the video.... but shorty into it I started getting the sarcasm. Great video. The rewind.
Oh my, this is just too true!
at first i thought you were serious about the controllers n stuff but than i heard what you said about the rewind :D
I'm a beginner dj.... And this is sooooo true. Hahaha ....I even have that same controller. My headphones are a lil more badass....but only because I got them at 10% of the amount for which they usually sell. Well played!
THis is some good stuff man, and STOP HATING you guys talk like you'd expect this man to make you the next DJ BL3ND!
If you could list the gear that you're using as well as the tracks that you were playing, it would be greatly appreciated. Loved the video, thank you so much! :-)
Awesome man
Very very useful!
It is also very important to keep your audio disconnected to prevent causing hearing damage.
Thx!! Now i'm ready to Dj :)
