HOW TO: DIY PARACORD AXE COLLAR
So I went garage selling the other day and I found this old hatchet that looked like it was in pretty good condition. I had to have it so bought it but I wanted to personalize it to make it my own. I found an old leather sheath that housed one of my other hatchets and it fit this one so that worked out nicely. The blade was extremely dull so i took it to my brother's grinder and sharpened the edge. Lastly, I added my own paracord axe collar for grip (and for the looks obviously). It is a technique that has a quick release if you need the cord for something else while out in the woods. I filmed the whole process for y'all. Enjoy!

This will be perfect for my throwing axe, not heavy but also g Provides protection
Watching this with my 8 year old. We’ve got an axe restoration project for his boys axe. Love the paracord collar tutorial. Regarding the edge grinding of the bit: personally I’m a “by hand only” guy when it comes to getting a razor sharp edge on my tools (I do a fair bit of carving). We plan on saving that step to the end and masking the bit so that he can work safely without risking injury. Thank you for putting this video together and inspiring us to work on a project!

Sharpening by hand is definitley better. The grinder is just faster and this wasn't a very expensive axe so I wasn't too concerned about it. Thank you very much for stopping by and watching. I wish you and your son all the best! 👍👍
I have had friends who lost their sons to drugs, mine at least was into camping with me. We have a state park with remote campsite's you have to paddle out and camp on an island. We have seen moose, eagles, and a family of otters, I would like to think or hope that it had an impression on him, he is in culinary school . I really find your videos inspirational.

Nice hatchet and a great little project. You could even use high visibility cord if you are one of the people that misplaces things. Thank you for the video

Any kind of cordage will do. That's what's awesome about this project. You get attached to it by personalizing it the way that you like! Thanks for watching!
I am seriously lousy at doing nifty work with paracord and still using rubber innertube over a small piece of flattened out tin can topped off with tarred bank line for a collar . I wish that hatchet had a makers mark on it . Cool video and thanks .

@SAR TRACKING Had to laugh and remember my dad using the top of a tuna can bent into shape and the handle was wrapped with steaming hot green deer skin . After that green buckskin dried , it was hard as hell and the wrap lasted for years . I'm still using flattened copper tubing and innertube .
👍👍👍
Your hatchet looks like a Plumb hatchet made for Boy Scouts and sold by JC Higgins and Sears Roebuck back in the 50s' and 60s" . If that's an original Plumb , you have one hell of a good hatchet and very collectible . Thanks for your video . Lefty ? ....

I wanted to scream while you are using a grinder instead of a file . Looks like an original Plumb #4 with an original handle . Collector value without the original sheath and in good condition is aprox. $400 bucks . Sent this video to a friend who is a collector . ATB

Not entirely sure of the name of weave. I saw a tutorial on how to wrap handles using that weave a while back but i dont remember the specific name of it, sorry.
