How to DIY a Tear-Off Notepad | What Glues Work Best!
Step-by-step tutorial for this video at wellcraftedstudio.com/make-a-...
Tear-off notepads/memo pads are terribly handy. They hold to-do lists, shopping lists, honey-do lists, memos, and even wish lists. Now you can make your own DIY tear-off notepads (or memo pads) and this tutorial will show you how. I also do quick product comparisons to figure out the best glue to use to hold your DIY notepad together.
I use the term memo pad in the video but have been told nobody has called them that since the 60's.
For this video, I do have a free printable (in the Free Library on my blog) you can use to follow along with, of course creating your own custom notepad with your Procreate art would be awesome too!
I also use chipboard for my backing to the notepad but you can use any recycled cardboad that is thicker and heavy. If you're interested in how I make noteboooks I'd love to have you comment and let me know. A fun variation of this project is to add a magnet strip to the top back edge of your notepad to DIY your own magnetic refridgerator notepads.

You mentioned that PVA glue was not easy to find in craft stores, but it is very easy to find in hardware stores. Many glues that are marketed as "wood glue" or for use to glue wood to wood is actually PVA glue. I tried a little test notepad with wood glue I had lying around, and it turned out beautiful. (To be exact, the glue I used is called "no more nails" and is labelled as an all-purpose/multi-use construction adhesive for many different kinds of materials. It worked great for my test pad, and I can't wait to try it with a full sized notepad.) Edit: I should add, some wood glues are tinted yellow. Make sure the one you're getting dries clear or white.

This is great! I have paper pads I'd like to use but they have sayings or advertising on them that I don't want. I was cutting them off but then I had stacks of loose paper. I thought, wouldn't it be nice if I could figure out how to glue them together again after cutting off what I don't want. I googled it and there you were. Even better, because you sampled different glues. Thanks so much!

Hi! I’m honestly not sure, it was a medium-weight though. It doesn’t matter a ton, but a thicker weight will make the product seem more like a quality product then if you used something thin (like a cereal box). If you know what the back of a sketch pad is like, I like a comparable thickness to that. Hope this helps!

How does YES glue work?
@WellCraftedStudio
Жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried it but YES is a PVA so it would act similar to the archival glue I think I tested.
I have mixed feelings. I would use many of these glues to glue paper together permanently, so it is weird to consider using them for temporarily binding them.
