After potting up tubers, where do you keep them? I don't have grow lights, and no huge south facing windows. I received my dahlia tubers too early for my zone by 6 weeks. I need to do something with them, they were pricey! Thank you, this video has more information then most, I enjoyed it.

Hi there, once potted up, I keep mine in a cold room in our house (no heating and no lights). I check them every day for shoots and then as soon as I see a tiny shoot, I move the pot into the light. Not under grow-lights - just by a window that doesn't get direct sun. Once the shoots have about 4 proper leaves, fully out, then I start carrying the pots outside on warm days and bringing them back in at night (mostly to protect them from slugs, but also frost). It's quite a lot of work but these are my 'precious jewels' and so it's worth it! As long as you keep yours cool and protected from the mice, then you don't need to pot them up until you're ready. They will only start to shoot if they are too warm or you pot them up. Hope this helps.

@@cottoverdi Thank you! It's very, very helpful. I think I will try to keep them cool in the box for about 2 weeks, then pot up and move to warmth. Does that sound right?

Great video Annette and very informative. I'm lucky in Cornwall that I can leave all mine in the ground and pots over winter and only need to dig up to divide if needed. Can't wait to see them all in bloom 🌸🏵🌺

Fab. Glad I could help - but you can definitely just plant the bunch without dividing it at all.

When do you start diving them? After two years? Mine are going to be a year old next year.

Hi there, in all honesty, I've divided every year because I like to make new plants for free! But you don't need to do this at all if your clumps are still a manageable size. However, it won't hurt the dahlia to divide them and you will still get blooms... so if you want more plants, then give it a go. 😁🌸🌱
