There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Thanks for the great video! I didn't realise I could disengage the transmission. I already nearly broke my back pushing it out of the front garden to the back last year. Wish I knew this then:)

I know where the lever is, pulled it and locked it into the "disenguage" position as is shown on the label diagram. But axle is still locked, can't push it... or rather when I do push (really hard) the rear wheels skid, they won't roll. Drives fine when running though.

@@MachineryNation Its just a poulan 18.5 Hydro. Hadn't thought about the brake, but if it was wouldn't it also be on when driving? It doesn't seem to be... I'll look into that though. Thanks for the Reply

Hi! I still need help, My lawn mower is a Kubota Lawn Tractor Model T1460, and in the owners manuel it says that the lever is at the back like the John Deer, but I cant find it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I am not an expert on this stuff! Thanks

It maybe the case that you lever has fallen off. If you look in on top of your gear box you maybe able to find the part the lever is joined to, if you move that one it should disengage.

I disengaged my Craftsman mowers transmission to move it and it won't re- engage fully now. Reverse works but when I try to go forward there is a gear grinding sound. I can't mow the mile high grass!

A mile high… that could be a club of some kind 😂 It sounds as though the lever as not fully gone back in, maybe pull it out then back in again. There maybe debris blocking behind the lever that has moved when you pulled it out. Worth a try. Hope this helps.

Good little ride on the were! I believe the pull lever is in under the deck and you need to pull it towards the front of the mower. I maybe thinking of another small one 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@MachineryNation The lever appears to be coming out far enough. I got down and watched it move. It moves whatever it's attached to but then it goes in like a closed case. And I can't see anymore. I know next to nothing about this thing but appreciate your reply.

Was hoping for Husqvarna/Craftsman. Maybe they don't sell those in Europe?

Yes the AYP tractors they make them for Husqvarna & Craftsman as well as many others. Depending on the model you will find the lever in a similar place. Only difference sometimes is that it a pin you lift under the seat on the collecting models. Hope this helps 👍🏼

Common problem, you will have to get inside and give the level a gentle tap. Just a seized from lack of use I expect
