I have search web after a way to disable Microsoft Edge, and all i could fine was ways that was so complicated that I gave up halfway through. Then you show up and bam it's done in less than a 60 seconds. Thank you and you just earned a subscriber. :)

Thanks for posting. I hate windows making me use their apps by force. Hate the mandatory updates. You used to be able to choose which updates to load.

This worked for me! Even with my school work computer that has a bunch of silly administrator blocks on it. :-)

Thank you for this! My cat sat on my laptop (don't laugh. She's really fat) and I think she did something to my keys. All I know is that after she was done, a Bing search for how to get help on Edge just populates itself over and over. If I pressed a letter, it was like the CTRL or ALT key was pressed as well so whatever shortcut corresponded to the letter kept popping up. I disabled the keyboard and got a USB one but nothing would stop Edge, until now! This is an awesome fix!

I googled this problem with complicated solutions that I tried . It took hours and it did not work. I was thinking about resetting my whole computer with a new Windows CD and I found your video. My problem was that Edge would randomly appear when ever i would click something on my desktop and it would pop 389 taps and counting. Taking up all my ram ! . If this stop I will certainly come back and thank you the world my friend. *UPADATE. it worked!!!! Thank you ever so much

Hello, I attempted to "kill" Microsoft Edge by applying the method you describe above. I renamed Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Edge Development Tools Client by adding 123 at the end of the link. Unfortunately Edge still remains well and active! Is there anything else needed for this newer die-hard version of Edge? Thank you.

Edge is so sneaky. My default browser is Firefox. My wife sent a link about a dinosaur to my gmail account. When I started my computer, Edge pops up with recommendations to sites about dinosaurs. I hate that companies feel entitled to eavesdrop on all my communications! Did what you suggested, but I expect MS will reenable Edge when the next windows update is forced on me.

Didn't work for me. The desktop shortcut thing was working before I did your disable suggestion, but when I click on the link on the lock screen for more information about the picture. edge comes up with the information both before and after implementing your suggestion. I just can't seem to completely disable it.

Thanks man! I literally got a sort of trojan virus, but i eventually managed to clear it. The only problem that lasted was the fact that it kept opening random tabs, slowing my pc down significantly. I have been searching for hours. It is 2:42 here in austria currently. Really really thanks! Showed these bastards that they aint gettin' my pc! Atleast not today.
