I appreciate the emphasis on saving money and only amending the immediate planting area. Seems so obvious, yet I hadn’t thought of it. Utilized this method yesterday when I put in my pole beans, merely composting the trench. You are a good teacher, Mr. Gary, thanks for the help.

This is my second season. I learned a lot from you last year, by devouring your videos. Thanks to your encouragement, I havent bought any transplants this year, save for rosemary because mine died. Just put in a new cattle panel arched trellis for my cucumbers and to trellis my sweet potato vines. I like to pre germinate my squash, melon and cucumber seeds in either Lactic acid bacteria or worm casting extract. I makes for really good germination and takes the guess work out of how many plants you end up with. Enjoy your videos, Stay Well!!!

Just got some more root pouches today

Gary -- Love your channel. I transplanted 3 zucchini plants into my raised bed, and when I came out the next day every single leaf -- every bit of green -- was gone down to the soil level. I have 3' fencing around the bed. I'm clueless as to what ate them. We don't have deer, but we do have lots of squirrels and birds. Could it be one of those? Surely bugs couldn't do that in one night, could they?

This year I am coplanting cukes and pole beans with dill on each short side of my bed just because i want a larger variety of things and choices. Not sure if it will work. I am going to be trying to keep the cuke trimmed hard. Wish me luck.

How do I become a member and get help from you? I have red clay in my perennial flower bed but I’d like to learn how to improve all the soil other than the “holes” I gave them. I messed up my new raised beds I set up. I put bagged garden soil that was on sale on the bottom half of the beds and put compost that I bought locally on the top half. Well the compost is so compact after the last rain we had that the roots can’t grow in it well nor soak up nutrients. I tried water soluble and it doesn’t help. I’m now digging some of the soil out where I don’t have plants growing and putting in better soil that I made with perlite for drainage. Any other ideas u can think of? The beds r mostly planted everywhere unfortunately

Mixing in peat moss by hand will help. But mulching on top will help a lot That will keep moisture in and keep everything moist. Good luck. I start most of my seeds inside. Once I transplant them outside in grow bags/pots they turn yellow. My tomatoes, peppers and eggplant leaves are yellow. What could it be? I'm careful not to overwater (I'm heavy handed) to the point they are also welting. Any suggestions on what I can do? They are fruiting. But don't have that lush green color. I'm in 8b Texas.

They can get shock going to outdoors. So acclimate them slowly. Their roots systems have to grow. Give them a drink of water soluble fertilizer. They grow pretty tall, but if you do 2 plants per cage and train around the cage it might work.

Conflicting method in my opinion. Not all organic fertilizers are the same. Some contain aluminum…..not good….some have sulfur….not good (most of the time). Why just throw any organic fertilizer in your garden if you don’t really know what is in it? There is much more than NPK.

There is much more but not really needed for home gardening as most of the fertilizers are the same. Sure you can buy an acidifier but they are usually labeled quite well. The addition of sulfur such as 'Holly Tone' isn't going to sway a garden's pH much. You really need special pH changers. Not sure which ones contain aluminum but if you start reading packages for organics... chicken manure, bone meal, blood meal, feather meal, cottonseed meal, alfalfa meal, and then some smaller bits.
