I always correct my coworkers when it comes to the dimple because that small, overlooked detail makes the knot so much more sophisticated. Used an Eldredge for 5+ years and never learned another knot since.

An Eldridge knot daily? Holy moly! I’d probably do the same if I was good at tieing that knot or if my tie was long enough to actually do it 😭

Do you run with the scissors pointing towards or away from you?

Why the dimple? In other words, why would you want the dimple in general over no dimple? Is it personal preference, or is the dimple seen to be the standard?

Hey, I'm not claiming to know anything. I started wearing suits fairly recently. And I don't wear it for work. But I loathe the dimple to no end (on me). But what I loathe even more are people who care about other people's dimple. I hate the whole arbitrary parts of suit etiquette. For example, the button rules make sense for my body shape and suit. But a week ago I've seen a man with 2 out of 2 buttons buttoned. And It didn't look bad. What I am saying is, if your boss would fire you for not having a dimple AND you don't care either way, make sure you have a dimple. But in any other scenario, wear what YOU are comfortable in and like the look of. And on attention to detail: I take great care to avoid a dimple. If you wanna form an opinion of me, don't go by the dimple. Talk to me.

Why youd want to look sloppy in a suit is beyond me. Something to do with neoteny. Like wearing skate shoes with dress pants. 😅
