Thanks.....my kid car had a misfire / engine vibration problem especially at low speed / idle conditions. In his case the check engine light came on and off once a second. P0300 & P0304. We removed the solenoid pack for cylinder 4 spark plug. We did a simple ohm resistance test on the primary (.5 ohms and secondary 7,100 ohms + -15%) ignition coil test. Sure enough the high voltage side of the coil was a open circuit. We replace the coil and started the car. Immediately the engine vibration was gone and all was happy. Our biggest issue in this effort was releasing and removing the ignition coil electrical connector. That took 25 minutes to figure out where and how to squeeze and release clip mechanism worked.

With my Daughters car, oil on the bottom of the coil as you had. Replaced only the boot on the coil, and voila! it was fixed for far less than the cost of an entire coil.

I have a p0300 code on a Nissan 350z 04 what could it be? I was thinking it could possible be the catalyst converter or the coils packs not the plugs cause I recently replaced them.

I have a 2003 DODGE CARAVAN SE V6 3.3L The minivan is giving me a P0300 code. I turned on the engine and left it idling. Connected a test light to a ground and connected a vacuum gauge to a vacuum port on the upper intake manifold. I did a cylinder drop test using the test light while removing one wire at a time from the coil pack and observing the vacuum gauge needle for movement. As i was removing one wire at a time from the coil pack using the test light the vacuum gauge needle was not moving so i can know which exact cylinder is misfiring. Do you happen to know why the vacuum gauge needle was not moving?

My scanner read ignition coil code so I went ahead and changed the ignition coil, spark plug cables and spark plugs but I had to clean the oil that was on the spark plug well. All seemed good but later I got a code p4020 catalitic converter bank 1. The car was parked but this morning I decided to start it and got a code misfire on all 4 cylinders. I went ahead and changed the coils back to the old coils and then I got only a misfire for cylinder 4. This is really frustrating. Any ideas as to why it is still showing misfires?

Homie Hector, you seem to be a real pro with the Verus. On a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport 4.0L engine in Mode #6 Test $53 I get cylinder misfires on Cylinder 1 (321) Cylinder s 2 and 3 (0) Cylinder 4 (108) Cylinder 5 (653) Cylinder 6 (217). What are these numbers telling me? Bank 2 problems

Sandra Ledger you got some misfiring going on, not necessarily bank 1, maybe a random misfire. How’s the truck running, do you have a Chen next engine light on? I would reset the pcm and drive it to see what misfires come back. Might need spark plugs, maybe a vacuum leak affecting most cylinders, hard to say 🤔

What’s the code that’s triggering the check engine light. Don’t throw parts at it, you’ll be wasting money. But...The cheapest thing to try would be the plugs, but I believe you have a V6 and you have to remove the manifold.

I changed plugs, wires, maf, air filter, fuel filter, coil packs and checked injectors for a clean spray pattern and im still misfiring 😖 Que recomendas? Compression check? I switched coils and plugs around to make sure i didn't have a defective part as well. Just always cylinder 3 ☠

You said that #2 coil smelled of oil?! If so, should have replaced the valve cover gaskets also. I have found that the gasket around the spark plug/coil area of the valve cover will leak and cause a miss fire also. In the past I have found out that when people use after market electrical parts like coils and fuel pumps they have a tendency to fail a lot sooner than OEM. Good video.
