I have always wanted to design my own fabric because many times I'm looking for something specific and can't seem to find it anywhere. I am pretty computer illiterate though so the whole process of learning Adobe Illustrator will be daunting but I am going to try. Thank you for this wonderful video.

Mahalo mahalo mahalo. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Your tutorial gave me tremendous confidence for my clothing venture. I didn't know where to start or who to ask. I am touring Vietnam soon and hope to create a couple of samples and explore manufacturing costs. But designing and printing the fabric was a total blockage for me. Thanks again.

this is a great video. thank you. I just need to get illustrator as i remember working with it and enjoying doing so. I mostly use firealpaca for drawing if not ms paint since illustrator is pretty expensive. I wanna have custom fabric as I like to design custom witch hats and some of my hats will have patterns on the fabric, especially like planets or flowers and stars. so this is a great tutorial and would be a boost for my business

Hi, Affinity Designer is pretty good and one of the only vector softwares on par with AI and it's a one off purchase. Also there's Gravit Designer which has a free version but the Pro version also comes with a subscription however, it's still way cheaper than AI! Hope this helps.

That would kill the goose that lays their golden eggs. If they stole even ONE design, the word would get out, and they would be out of business.

The video helped explain the basic application to creating a fabric design using a computer and Illustrator, the only problem is that I am not all that versed in Illustrator. Is there a way to explain how to use the Illustrator program?

Hi @oksancia, this is so comprehensively taught and informative video. I run a digital printing unit, would love to provide printing services

I just want to say that if you are more interested in the fabric part of this business, and not so much being a _pattern_ designer, Spoonflower is NOT the place to go. You get subpar quality fabrics at a really high price. Use Global Sourcing or Alibaba to find better quality fabric providers.
