How to Design Quick Dungeons AND Battle Maps!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I used the excellent random tables from Maze Rats to create this dungeon in 15 minutes! And used a 5mm Bullet Tip and 1mm Posca Markers on non-photo blue 1" grid paper to draw the map in under 1.5 hours!

My daughter and I just finished playing through Dragon Town and the Windsong Woods! It was so nice to talk with...Carl the Cleric ;)
That map looks really great. Such a great nostalgic vibe. You have a really steady hand with the markers. This has me wanting to put together a cool looking random dungeon on a big sheet like that and putting it inside a poster frame for wall art.

Thanks! That's an awesome idea!
The use of the paint marker makes it go BOOM!, ya know? Thanks JP. You da bomb. The added electric 70s vid-game soundtrack bits work so well with your art style. Bonus donkeys!
Thank you for this. ALSO.......ALSO......Thank you for your wholesome approach. Your character drawings and style isn't about oversexualizing them. I wish you had been my 1st dm. You probably still would be.

Wholesome D&D is the best D&D I love JP's art, it's exactly what I'm looking for!
Honestly, I'm just happy to see Knave getting some love
For help naming NPCs, two of my favorite free resources are: -The name tables at the back of Stars Without Number (10 tables of different linguistic backgrounds for 25 male and female first names, 25 last names, and 50 place names) -The name tables on the first page of each scenario pack for Beyond the Wall (6 place names and 20 male/female names, with one linguistic background per scenario pack) Bonus points to recommending both (along with Worlds Without Number) for their random adventure generation mechanics, too. It's more complicated that the Maze Rats system, but they're similar about having tables of evocative idea prompts for the GM to build on 🙂
Very relaxing to watch the map being done. Brought back old TSR memories from the early '80s. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. (PS the Monster Manual in back was a blast to see too. Pretty sure that's where I first learned about & got interested in Elric and the Cthulhu myths)
I love the tables of maze rats, i use them all the time in my games! haha
Hi JP, loving the videos. Can't wait for the zine!!!
Really great video. Awesome map!
always a blast. love being along for the ride - your enthusiastic approach to storytelling, art and D&D is great. love how you say things like "I'm just going to..." then get carried away with being creative. great inspiration - love the game mechanic and referencing MAZE RATS by Questing Beast (another Fav KZreadr)- thanks again for the positivity and fun
This dungeon looks awesome, can’t wait to put it in my next campaign.
Awesome. Love to see all these maps in a book for Dragontown areas.
