An electromagnetic metasurface refers to a kind of artificial sheet material with sub-wavelength thickness. Metasurfaces can be either structured or unstructured with subwavelength-scaled patterns in the horizontal dimensions
In electromagnetic theory, metasurfaces modulate the behaviors of electromagnetic waves through specific boundary conditions, rather than constitutive parameters in three dimensional (3D) space, which is commonly exploited in natural materials and metamaterials. Metasurfaces may also refer to the two-dimensional counterparts of metamaterials.
One the most important applications of metasurfaces is to control a wavefront of electromagnetic waves by imparting local, gradient phase shifts to the incoming waves, which leads to a generalization of the ancient laws of reflection and refraction. In this way, a metasurface can be used as a planar lens, vortex generator, beam deflector, axicon and so on.

Hi, I am simulating a frequency selective surface and I have used your method for finding the S-parameters but I also want to test it in the Transient solver to study the far-field behaviour around my model by using the same model but with periodic boundaries instead of unit cell boundaries but whenever I test it out the model seems to ignore the S-parameter behaviour that was found in the F-solver. Is there a way to fix this?
you add nickel meterial brick for cut.it works.but i think using the shell solid tool and boolean- operations may more reasonable :)

Hello, Sir First of all, thanks for this wonderful video explanation about how to build FSS on CST. I intend to design a FSS (no idea if I use a single or multilayer FSS) for a ressonant frequency of 60 GHz with 30 GHz of Bandwidth. So, I have a question: how to generate a good quantity of measures for my FSS in way to see the optimun result?

For high frequency, your fss unit cell dimensions goes to decrease and for the band the structure geometry matter...
please also show how to change incident wave.like x polarized and y polarized

Hi sir, I appreciate your video, and this is very useful for me, thank you., But I am stuck in a problem. I tried a lot in designing metamaterial antenna, and want to obtain some desired results. But after so many attempts, I am no where. I designed atleast 35 metamaterials antenna, but not able to understand what dimensions I chose, so that required results are obtain. Please help.

hi, in ring part, i am unable to cut by applying the settings you mentioned. video stopped at 1045 and at 1046 it was cut..... where as it does not actually. kindly tell me what parameters you changed to apply this cut. regards

there are different technique how to design ebg i.e for single band or multiple ...and add with micro strip antenna ... EBGs are different from Metasurfaces
