Loved your video. How do you know the hex codes for different themes? I need three different colours for my different classes. My different background colours create black or unmatching colours for the theme (blue background creating an orange classroom). Thanks!

Google Classroom will apply an overlay due to accessibility issues. At this time, there is no way to remove it. However, I have found that when I design different banners, the darkness of the overlay is related to the colours I use. It can take a little experimenting to get things exactly right sometimes. 😊

Is it possible to have a GIF in my design and have it moving in the banner? Also, when I uploaded the image it came off as dark and in the background. Any tips?

Yes, it is possible to have a GIF and moving banner. I've had a few questions about that and my next video that I'll be posting shows how to do that. :) The dark overlay on the banner is something that Google Classroom automatically does and there is no way to get around having it there at this point. I try to create my banner designs with that overlay in mind.

Last week, Google made some updates and the Google Classroom banners were affected. Many teachers have been struggling with issues getting their banners to work properly. Google is aware of the problem and is working to get it fixed. Hopefully soon! :)

Last week, Google made some adjustments that resulted in difficulties with Google Classroom banners displaying properly. They are aware of the issue and I'm hoping that it will be fixed soon. :)

Thanks for this video. However, when I upload my slide to my google classroom, it does dot include the whole image. It is projected too big. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thank you so much! II'm a student but, I wanted to make a cool thing for my friends. This really helped me! I didn't know how to make one.

When I upload it I get a blown up version on GC that I can only see the very top of what I created.

Has anyone made any Harry Potter house banners? I want to divide my high school sets by house (next school year), and I’m not sure if there are any already made!

How do you remove the Google header overlay - it discolors and leaves Class Details atop the new header?

Unfortunately, at this point, Google does not allow that to be an option. When I design custom headers, I try to keep them rather simple keeping in mind that the overlay will be added by Classroom. I would suggest requesting that feature though. I know I have. :) If you go to the question mark in the bottom-left corner of Google Classroom, one of the options is to request features.

Ms. Rochford on Demand evidently there is a way by right-clicking in header, selecting Inspect, and following a few more steps. Unfortunately, some are restricted from the option to select Inspect to carry it out.

@@willnero8231 that actually will only change what it looks like for you during that one session. If you refresh the page it goes right back to having the overlay.

But then you upload it and google darkens the image so you can't see it. What do we do to fix that please?

There is no way to change that at this point. The overlay is something that Google Classroom adds to make sure the text indicating class name and info can be seen by everyone. Including those with vision issues. It’s an accessibility feature. 😊

Hmmm... I’ve never seen the overlay so dark that the banner can’t be seen. It’s normally just dark enough to provide contrast with the white text from the class info. If you used some really light colours in your design (especially on the left-hand side of the banner), that might be the issue. You could experiment with variations in the predominant colour... maybe try to darken it a bit and see if the overlay lightens up at all.
