Not even Microsoft's own support website has the right method to delete pesky "Continuous" section breaks. Your method is effective, and simple, and easy to remember because it makes sense. Great video!

THANK YOU!!!!! I've spent years avoiding the Continuous break, but I was experimenting with something that didn't require it after all. Trying to revert was doing just as you show-moving backwards, and I really didn't want to reformat the 21 sections. Your trick has saved me!

Thank you -- MS Help was not helpful on this, but your tip worked, with elegant simplicity and clear explanation. I found that (in MS-WORD 2019) changing to draft mode was not needed -- just just toggle the show/hide status into "show."

I haven't come across a document when I would like the continuous section break to appear somewhere else when deleted! I can see the point in "theory", but not in practice, maybe if you're a column writer. I'm glad it was helpful.

I'm having trouble doing this successfully with an index. When I edit the field code for my index (Alt+F9, right-click, Edit Field..., Index, Columns: 2 to 1) it puts in the two Section Break (Continuous). I think I'm following your steps but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Mine won’t even let me select the section break to delete it

I am working on a 300-page document. I'd like to delete the last section break. Any time I delete it, the format/page numbers changes in the previous pages. Please advise.

Hello Muema, I recommend disabling "Link to Previous" in your headers and footers before deleting the section break. When you go into the footer a new tab appears called "Design" and in the middle of that tab you will see "Link to Previous" disable that in all of your sections in both the header and footer, just to play it safe and then delete the section break.

The first 42 seconds explains why a faster solution works: 1) Same first step - click anywhere in the section after the continuous break 2) Insert a next page section break 3) Hit the backspace key to delete it - it has now replaced the continuous break

My attention span isn't very good with their long intro, I wish they would just skip it and just get to the point with their how-to articles. I hope to make more in the future, but when KZread changed their minimum requirement it deflated me. 1k subs is a lot! :-P

I've been away for quite some time, but I am returning to the channel. After four years I'm sure you resolved it! :) But just in case, you place the cursor directly on the section break (after you converted it from a continuous section break) and press the delete key on your keyboard.
