How To Defend Front Kicks

Ойын-сауық

There are numerous ways to properly defend the front kick. When you don’t have a least one of these defenses locked you are far too susceptible to the teep. Work on each of these and find which one is ideal for you.

I forgive you Gabriel. Audio not even super bad. Such a gentleman. Everyone out there the teep is an amazing weapon. Like Gabe says mixing up the levels made me so much more competent in sparring. I got known in my gym for face teeps. God damn they surprise partners. Work on it everyone. Long range weapon that beats almost everything

Awesome video! My favorite teep defense is one you didn't go over, actually. Say I'm in orthodox and my opponent throws the left teep, I'd use my right forearm/elbow to deflect the teep. I like this for 2 reasons. 1, it sets up a power left hook with how it twists my body, and 2, if they fake a teep and I bite, my hands are still up to defend the real attack.

Mr. Gabriel!!! You have awesome content first of all, BUT my main question is not really how to defend a front kick while I'm more or less stationarry, but could you give me some strategy about how to get inside, if someone constantly pushkicking? Because many times I try to go in straight, and people just teep, or sidekick me. What is the strategy? Just stay outside, trying roundhouse kicks? Please make a video about this!!! THANKS :)

In my gym we smack the kick aside with the mirror hand (if you throw the teep with the left leg, I give it a smack with my right hand) and it turns the opponent so we can retaliate. I like it because it's quick and it really turns the opponent just like the scoop. Often there is a spinning technique following through though...

That's a pretty bad idea because of what Gabriel presented in the video. Also if you even hit the kick, the guy can follow with head kick/head hook after landing on the foot or just set you up this way. Not good

Gabriel, don't mean to crash your video, but there is another option you missed out which is shown by Liam Harrison in this video, which is "deflecting the teep with your ellbow" while maintaining the hands up high to guard your face: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGaktbuBc8iqZZs.html What I like about this is you are not exposing your face in case of a teep feint and also you hurt the opponents feet/toe if you aim with the sharpest point of your ellbow, so they might hurt themselves more than they hurt you and stop throwing teeps/push kicks (I for myself broke a toe once in sparring landing a teep on the ellbow). Also the travel distance from your hand to your stomach for reaching is bigger than the distance of your ellbow to the stomach so it's faster to block that way. It is my favourite way to deal with teeps.
