I remember that line from the anime "Urusei Yatsura". A side character Shutaro Mendo always say it whenever he's in the dark (the weakness for otherwise a "perfect" human being)... It's a nice tribute or homage.

Though, as I've seen others note, there is still the benefit of Frieren being open during that moment since it takes her a bit to make that choice. That all being said, this still hinges on the idea that Frieren would do this while in the presence of an enemy, which she wouldn't

I was fully expecting episode 26 to resolve with Fern going "I got this, brb" and then kick-sliding a mimic through the door.

The copy doesn't have a heart so it won't work. But it would be *SUPER* funny if they did try a "mimic plan" before the actually fight.

This would be a lot more funny way of dealing with Frieren clone than what they did, but the clone has no mind and wouldn't fall for it.

actually it would most likely fall for it lol, it has no mind but it still behave like the original. Obviously it wouldn't fall for it in battle cause it's controlled by the monster generating the copies and that thing sets the hiighest priority of the copy at defending it's life (that's why frieren clone was guarding the last door and cast a sealing spell on it and wasn't pursuing those who were fleeing). But if there was just a random ass chest sitting there and no threat in sight I'm pretty sure the copy would go for it because, idk, what if there is a magical item in there that helps it protect the chamber? you never know! (at least that's frieren thought process so that's what the clone would do). Obviously she'd then just blast the mimic from inside but probably would open it. However it might not work in that dungeon specifically because the monster is guarding the dungeon, so the frieren clone would probably not try to loot it unless it knew it wasn't part of the dungeon.

@@Laezar1Makes me wonder why Frieren didn't learn a spell similar to Ubel's to cut the chest's lid clean off, or at least the hinges. She doesn't care for the chest itself, it wouldn't damage the contents and a Mimic would surely react to having a part of it's body cut off.

Only thing missing is the catch sound from pokemon after the mimc shakes

To those who say "clones don't have a brain and she wouldn't be caught by mimic", I want to counter: No brain, but they repeat patterns of behavior (e.g. why did the clone Ubel steal the golem bottle?). And if it worked and she blew up a mimic from the inside, she'd have ringlets hair. And that automatically turns the whole test to ridiculous but fun! 😀

errr... no. If you watched the entire anime (btw, cant read japanese here), Fieren said specifically she could just blast the mimic facefront and that's why she ends up with curly hairstyle/ different hairstyles from time to time, coming back from a mimic, solo-hunting.
