    After watching TikTok videos of how to make cotton candy from other sources, this video comes in handy to those that actually tried it. Trusting TikTok videos will lead to a shortened life or lost friends. Next you will make a punch in a toilet bowl for your next party, or cotton candy in a dryer.

    We're glad we could show a safer process that you can trust! I don't think anyone would want cotton candy from a dryer anyway, and getting that drum up to the 3,000RPM or so that's needed to spin the candy could result in a large dryer-shaped hole in the wall.

    Great video. I notice the spinner head did not have a series of hole along its circumference. How does the melted sugar escape?

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    Жыл бұрын

    The plate on top has very thin slots around the perimeter, no larger than a couple sheets of paper in thickness. The slots allow the melted sugar through while being too thin for sugar crystals to escape.

    I went a bit nuts and took a Dremel with a wire disc brush to the head. It certainly took off the hardened sugar, but yeah, I scratched the ever-loving crap out of it. Is it ruined? What should I look out for?

  • @VIVOus

    If the scratches are shallow enough, you may be able to burnish them out with a piece of aluminum stock and then give the surface a thorough cleaning. It should still be usable.

    Ummm no way I’d use comet on anything I was going to make food to eat. How about bar keepers friend and a pumice stone or grill brick

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    9 ай бұрын

    Comet is an abrasive bleach cleanser and can often scrub through some of the hard burned sugar. Since it is a bleach, it does need to be thoroughly cleaned off once finished, and the machine is perfectly safe to use after cleaning. Bar Keepers Friend can also be used since it's an abrasive powder cleaner, but it does need to be thoroughly cleaned out since it's acid based (the EWG rated it as being just as toxic as Comet). Grill bricks are similar to the blue scrubbing pad we used, so those are another option if you have them on hand.

    I get sugar built up all along the bowl. It creates a solid ring too. I take a fork to knock off the ring, but some of it is so stuck, I don't know what to do. It doesn't create any issues but looks bad. Any advice?

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    Жыл бұрын

    We're sorry, but there unfortunately isn't anything that can be done to prevent this. As the head spins at high speed, some of the melted sugar forms droplets along the edges that fly out and stick to the bowl. The ring of sugar does become easier to remove or even falls on its own when it builds up enough, and this can be crushed and re-used once to make more cotton candy (sometimes called the "mystery flavor" if it becomes a mix of sugars). Any that's left stuck to the bowl will rinse out with hot water when you're finished using the machine.

    You can knock the sugar off the bowl very easily, as long as is the first thing you do when finish spinning and while is still hot. I use the metal scoop and it falls right off in seconds. Key is do it while hot.

    I am so trying this I felt this way too. It use to run so great and is now so slow. I feel the power is less too Idk how to fix that. The voltage used to be higher. I am frustrated every bubble I have bought has broken every season. I felt like they are supposed to last use the box and take special care removing and replacing the bubble when cleaning has to cause it to weaken. I wish I didn't have to replace every season :( I love this machine and need it to last I don't want to have to buy a different brand. Let me know tips and tricks with the bubble too, please.

    The sugar is supposed to spin out of thin slots around the edges, but if there is too large of a gap then sugar crystals can also get through. If you contact our customer support team, we can send you a guide showing an easy way to straighten out a bent top plate: vivo-us.com/pages/support

  • @VIVOus

    We're sorry the screws are giving you trouble! Try warming up the machine for 20 to 30 seconds. This will usually soften sugar in the threads enough to let them come loose. If that doesn't work, please contact our customer support team: vivo-us.com/pages/support

    If you don't have a wire wheel, can you use a small wire brush?

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    10 ай бұрын

    It will likely be slower than the wire wheel, but yes, that should work. Just be sure not to scrub it in too hard, so it only takes off the layer of burned sugar.

    Any good tips about cleaning sugar from down inside the screw holes?

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    Жыл бұрын

    To clean out the holes, first warm the machine for 20 to 30 seconds to help soften the sugar and remove the screws and top plate. With those parts removed, allow the machine to continue heating for a few minutes so the sugar in the holes can spin out. While that's clearing, you can drop the screws into a cup of hot water and then brush them clean once they've had some time to soak.

    I followed these steps and the wire brush scratched the spinning head. It appears to still work, but now I am getting the cotton candy collecting around the rim of the spinning head and twisting into tight spirals as it comes out. You say to clean it with water about every 20 minutes. Do I wait awhile before pouring in more sugar to make sure that is dry?

  • @VIVOus

    @VIVOus

    Жыл бұрын

    The water inside the head will evaporate almost immediately from the heat, so letting it warm back up for a minute and wiping some water out of the bowl with a cloth will be enough before continuing. The wire wheel does unfortunately leave some scratches in the aluminum, but if there's a lot of very hard burned sugar, it's the quickest way to remove it. If the cotton candy isn't able to come out from the edges normally, check to make sure there wasn't also burned sugar on the bottom of the plate which could be clogging the very thin slots.

    So I tried this on my machine and at first I thought “this is great I finally found an easy way to clean the hardened sugar off”. Well after doing this it took the anti stick layer off and made tiny grooves in the metal. Now the sugar burns easily and after only 5 cones it builds up so bad I can’t use it. It’s like it builds a weeks worth of burnt sugar in a matter of minutes. Take this video down, this method ruined my machine and now I have to buy a whole new head. Thanks alot!

    Cotton candy absorbs moisture from the air like a sponge unfortunately, so it can melt very quickly in high humidity. On days like that, all we can recommend is making it indoors in an air conditioned environment (keep a dehumidifier running if necessary) and then bagging it right away.
