How to Deep Clean Makeup Brushes

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There are so many ways to clean your makeup brushes. Today, I’m going to share two ways I like to clean my makeup brushes when they get really dirty. First, a deep clean. I deep clean my dirty makeup brushes at least once a month, but need to get better and do this at least once a week. Second, a quick no-rinse clean for my makeup brushes. This quick clean method is great if you’re using the same brush in one sitting with different makeup. Hopefully this is a great reminder to clean your makeup brushes.

Make sure that when you put the brushes on the towel to dry the bristles are pointing downwards so that any water trapped in the base doesn’t go backwards into the ferrule and grow mold.

Castile soap is the best soap for washing brushes in my experience. Works better than any makeup brush soap I've ever used

I use a towel to ring the water out without yanking on the bristles. I put soap directly on the bristles to use less soap.

I put the dawn with a little olive oil in a bowl ,dip rub, all the brushes at once then rinse rub all the brushes at once. I like the little bit of olive oil for softener.

I clean my brushes with a solution of soap, vinegar (1:1) and warm water. I leave them to soak and change the dirty water and wash them on a silicone pad. I wipe them with a kitchen towel of the excess water and leave them with the brushes down to dry. They come out very clean and disinfected thanks to the vinegar...can be sprayed with pure alcohol when they are dry...Try it !!Success...Greetings from Romania.❤

Can I just say I love that you filmed this in a normal bathroom? The faucet is older and not "perfect" or updated to todays standards. It's a normal faucet and I love that!! Love your channel and your family. ❤ Also the wallpaper makes me almost want to get that wallpaper for my bathroom. It gives me Disney world vibes somehow.

I hang the brushes brush side down by taking a bulldog clip and clamping it on the handle end. That way the water doesn’t stay in the hozzel end. I have a tension rod that I thread through the handle end of the clips. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I've been using the real Techniques brush shampoo because it rinses out quickly and thoroughly, but when it's gone I have a soap cake brush cleaner from Ulta to try. My makeup brush hack is that I use my old glass scented candle jars as brush holders. They look cute and work perfectly for basically free.

I like to dry my brushed with one of those spinners that come with the bowls. It doesn't get the brushes super clean so I don't use it for that, but its amazing at getting most the water out if the brushes. It's completely dry after a few hours. 😊

I used to use the Bareminerals Shampoo Brush Cleaner but it's now been discontinued. I was looking out for something similar within the same consistency and I came across Bobbi Brown Conditioning Brush Cleanser and it does a great job. I dry my make-up brushes with a Hairdryer using the cool shot.

Whoa! That's a lot of brushes! I bought these little mesh sleeves on Amazon and I put one on each of my brushes after I wash them to keep the bristles shaped while they are drying. And I also dry mine in a brush dryer bristle side down. Of course, you can't do that with the double ended brushes (but I hate them and won't buy them).

I probably would stand the brushes up in a cup instead of laying them flat. I REALLY do love the scrub mat!! I have a small hand held one in the shape of a heart and it does work for me. But since I have been watching your channel, I have purchased a few more. Do you ever use the makeup sponges? And do you wash them or throw them away? I do wash mine but if it has been awhile, I do toss them. Please include this on one of your next videos. Thanks. LOVE your channel!!! 💕💕💕

I find that if I let the head of the brush hang over the counter exposed (as opposed to having the brush head on the paper towels) the bristles dry quicker.

I've recently got the style pro brush cleaner and dryer that spins the brushes, and its made me wash my brushes so much more often! I hate having to wait so long for them to dry so I dont do it as often as I should, but now I wash them like how you did here with a sillicone scubbing mat then I dry them with the Stylepro and reshape them and leave them for like half an hour. Makes it so much more manageable for me haha I dont like to use the style pro to actauly clean them, i do still scrub them with the mat just dry them with the style pro x

If I have a brush that’s really thick with makeup, (mostly foundation) I’ll rub the brush on the soapy pad and then let it sit for a minute and clean others that aren’t as dirty and then go back to the really caked in brushes to rinse, and I usually only have to wash it once. Just a tip 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ve heard that a lot of people use the Zote laundry bar soap because it breaks down the oily nature of some products and from our skin, but I’ve never tried it. Has anyone tried that soap? Curious people’s results. I’m weird I like to clean brushes lol. Also, if I use a spot quick dry cleaner, I spay some in a tiny bowl and do several at once so you aren’t spraying the cleaner in the air and using a lot up that way. Sorry my comment was so long winded 😬

Dish soap is a definitely a way to irritate sensitive skin. If you’re routinely trying out new makeup and then have a reaction, you can’t be sure if it’s from the makeup or combination of the makeup and harsh dish soap ingredients. My advice would be to use a sensitive facial foaming wash.
