I wonder if it can be both - the underdeveloped capacity in people interpersonally to be able to communicate when triggered and work through a rupture AS well as what you are talking about in understanding one's ammunition which of course was conditioned interpersonally. It seems to me that spiritual practice and self development work has become a very individualised process but the interrelationship with each other and negotiating the inevitable ruptures is largely unexplored and undeveloped. In narcissistic cultures that inevitably means abuse, war. neglect and victims.
