There are a few realizations I've had that help me to react better. The beauty of it is it requires no action on your part, simply knowing these things helps. 1) The number of stupid people is often higher than we discuss or may realize. This is because people can be otherwise very competent in other areas of their lives like work, academics, etc. 2) This is the most important one, IT ISN'T YOU. It isn't you, it isn't your fault. Stupid people are much more prevalent than they used to be, some is by design, some is due to an easier lifestyle than mankind had before the industrial boom. Often times it can make you question yourself (as any intelligent person would do at one point or another when faced with this volume of encounters with stupid people). If someone seems stupid, they probably are. ID this and move on with your life, it isn't worth your time. 3) Your reaction is normal. It is normal to be frustrated or even mad. It is a completely normal reaction. It isn't fair, but it's normal. It isn't fair that the idiot that makes the mistake driving and blames you goes on about their day. They will be completely relaxed for the rest of the evening while you're left frustrated and POed with them. It isn't fair that it's other people who have to deal with their stupidity, and not themselves. But it's the way it is. Try to think about hobbies, God, or the opposite sex when you find these frustrations creeping into your thoughts.

Great points here, thanks! I also feel its a lot more now adays. In the country I live now I sometimes wonder if the IQ here is below average. Actually moving back to my home country partly bc of this, have no real intelligent conversation and no real close friends here either. I even am better than some at the own language, they often do not understand some words. I read alot. I thought it was all in my head until staying a week in my homecountry, the male stewardess on the flight from here to there had a witty intellectual talk with me and I found myself so happy. That was the first same nationality person I met!!!. Then week at "home" disgussing deep stuff! Came back and then started the isolation again. I am starting to think maybe my intellect is intimidating even for friendship. Also I have more misunderstandungs happen at my workplace than ever in before. They get upset over stuff that is just based on sth they thought was an insult. Then my workload is quite high. I am writing out fool proof instructions to my subordinates who are thanking me all the time "I have saved their life" theyve said. Just the fact I am doing their job for them seems to be ok to them. At least they get an A for humility I guess. My boss does not seem to be aware how bad it is, I really wonder how they got through school. One does not know how to change 1,98 to 2,0 when having one point, she keeps doing 1,9. I have written her graphs to go by so not to have to change the medical files after. This is a matter of great importance for patients safety. Anyway I agree with your 3.

This was quite helpful in many ways. I have two such people in my environment. One person has worked on and off forme while the other person works pretty regularly. I would get very frustrated getting them to do the work as I have to constantly supervise them and if I don't they make huge mistakes, which are very irksome and damaging. So I learnt a few things which are all to do with me- 1. They are not used to what I expect from them ; hence if I want good results I need to be respectful and supervise. 2. They bring out my anger and frustration ; cant let them have this power over me. 3. Need to learn to be calm myself.

When I was younger I was called stupid by people who didn't know me a couple times, yet they didn't realize that because of severe depression I just didn't care about the things most folks do.

Well let's see. Ya got the moronic staff at my doctor's office, who have to ask ME what day of the week it is and who probably aren't even aware of what country they are in based on their behavior. Then you have the genius at cash register at the grocery store who is busy talking to the coworker and botches up the transaction royal. Don't forget retail managers, police officers and educators in the public school system who can't even locate the Pacific ocean on a globe. I am not talking book knowledge here though, I am talking about a very obvious absence of common sense. When I have to CONSTANTLY interact with them and to some extent depend on them it would be hilarious if it wasn't so frustrating and even scary at times. I don't have TIME to try and be their psychiatrist or try and bring them back to this dimension. I have to wonder if someone is aware of the fact that these people are out lose and unsupervised.

I am stupid because I don't understand how humans have survived this long and where all this evolution and technology came from. I am also a crazy conspiracy nut because maybe there is hidden special group of humans holding it all together I will never meet.

Thank you for talking about literally stupid people. Every video I’ve watched was actually talking about political people. And politics are stupid.

This video is way too kind to stupid people. A person who has Aphantasia and who does not have an internal monologue, a person who has completely lacking in discernment, doesn't understand anything about sociology and are actively willfully ignorant are stupid people. Sugar coating it is not helpful or conducive to an honest discussion about it. The loss and suffering caused by the actions of stupid people is real, this needs to be properly and seriously acknowledged. My recommendation: If your job requires you to train stupid people, learn to build analogies and use them to give explanations with the assistance of the Socratic method. Yes, I am recommending you to learn to write stories for children. I have been successful in explaining previously incomprehensible topics to them using this combination of methods.

If you are smart try to think like a stupid person lowers your standards and learn how to think less. Why not make a video called ''How to deal with smart people who think you are stupid'' No 1 - Read a book, Fix your standards and do not take it personally

this wasn't so much a way to deal with stupid people but to give reasons why you shouldn't be angry with stupid people, essentially saying you're the problem in the end. When you're not, you're dealing with an idiot doing something stupid and they're refusing to even entertain the possibility of listening to you. This wouldn't help at all in any way shape or form, it'd make people more resentful as they're looking for a way to deal with a stupid person rather than say "yeah, it's kinda my fault that Jim won't listen to me when I say smoking bath salts is bad, I guess I just need to lower my standards." Christ....I wasted 2 minutes of my life skipping through this video.

Really? Your guidance is comply, submit, obey, respect, try to understand, never complain and be happy about it? You really should read the works of Bonhoeffer or Cipolla.

Sorry friend, I like your points of view, but stupidity is not about opportunities in life. It seems that you don't know yet about the five laws of stupidity by Carlo M. Cipolla.
