For the front side,how did you get the waist measurement

I made mine with this tutorial but it didn't come out well. The waistline of the wrap gown I made is folding on my one side of the wrap while the other side is relaxed. How do i correct this because the more am trying to correct it, the worst it's becoming. Mine is a wrap pencil gown with half cut .

I’m happy it came out nicely. I don’t hold mine with a pin, it’s usually wider you cut it out too deeply.
