If you're slim, 3 and half yards is okay. If youre chubby, make use of 4 yards or 4 and half yards

The bias was stitched on the right side and then was turned and top stitched to the wrong side

You can do that by taking the measurement from your chest line to your shoulder.whatever you get , you double the measurement so it crosses over your shoulder to the back.
