Wow dude, that's pretty awesome. I've always just measure stuff and marked it on the back and precut it. But with your way, it's a lot easier around crazy curves and such. I've always only done easy flat areas because I wasn't aware of the existence of knife-less tape.

The string tape is just magic.

Been doing the same for years. Did my DJ bike 4 times, my Glory 3 and now my new DJ frame as well. Wrapping is awesome, takes about an hour and you are clean as a whistle. Plus, it costs close to nothing and you don't get mad when you hit it. Bike wraps are the way to go!

i fully wraped my carbon frame and redid all the decals and made matching decals for the forks and shock and wraped the shocks in clear overtop of the decal, and put a strip around my carbon rims which has saved the rims from some serious rock damage

I wanna jist wrap the logis on my rims from spank, I have a YT Tues 2017 model and I put 26 inch wheels on it cause I'm a freerider, when I bought the rims spank didn't make an orange color for their logos, only yellow, I've only seen orange from Thomas Genon's rims in his Canyon Sender but I want those rims too, but I've never thought about wraping them, will it work?

It should work. If you just want to change the color of the logos, I would cover the existing ones in the color of the rim, then have new ones cut with whatever vinyl you desire (e.g. orange) and apply those on top.

How did you get the wrap around that mid part? Because it's you know a circles over. Did you have to cut the vinyl to have it pushed against it or do you just get it really hot until it stretches over the weird shape?

Did you end up using any edge sealer on the vinyl? hows it been holding up? thanks for this i really needed it in my coming project

I ended up just putting some frame protection over some parts. Other than that, I didn't use any edge sealer. And it has held up very well so far through a whole season of riding. Thanks for checking out our video! Good luck on your project! 👍

Cool video. I have a new Santa Cruz v10 and ive been trying to wrap it for a month now but feel screwing up. That tape trick is awesome, what exact tape is that? Does the vinyl need to be warm when you pull the string? I wish I could get some help with it but I live in Vancouver. again, awesome job

The tape is 3M knifeless "finish line" tape. I just got it off Amazon. The vinyl does not need to be warm to pull the string. As a matter of fact, it's better not to have it warm as that will lead to more stretching in the vinyl. I wish I could help you out! I bet that v10 is going to look sick!

I live in Vancouver. Where can I get coloured vinyl for doing this? I'm getting a 2022 Rocky Mountain Altitude, and damn those new colours are ugly lol.

It actually lasts pretty well. I've had it on for a whole season now and not much has worn off. The corners are all still intact. And I've put it through a ton of abuse lol!

You said you put something on the curve to help protect it from pealing. What did you use and did it work?

Where do you buy the vinyl wrap ?

Frickin' ay. You made that look so easy--especially with that big piece. Do you recommend a certain brand of vinyl and string/tape? I tried doing this once and the edges of the vinyl where I pulled the string looked like I chewed them off with my teeth. Came out so horrible I gave up.

That's a good point... In all seriousness, it's because you usually cut vinyl with a knife. So with the tape, you can cut the vinyl "knifeless."

It was from a third party seller on Ebay. Search "galaxy print vinyl" and you should be able to find some.

What do you do when you get to a seam between pieces of wrap? Do you try to mate the two edges or do you do a small overlap?

Knifeless tape does perfect seams, just a different technique of laying than what is shown in this video.

I found this really nice bike but it has a neon color way and I’m trying to wrap it in Matt black

I don't know what they are officially called, but there are vinyl specific printers. Most sign shops have them, but if you're looking to get printed vinyl, you can usually find it online

were did you get the wrap from

I tried it last year exactly the same way on my Demo 8. But i think my gold Wrapping Foil was to thick so i could not cut it with the kniveless tape :/.

Wrapping vinyl. I got the special print off of eBay, but you can also purchase brands such as Vvivid, Avery, or 3M.

Is your bike carbon? Im riding MTB marathons with TREK Procaliber carbon bike and want to change bike looks by wraping it. Scared that if there will be any carbon cracks I will not see them behind wrap.

Yes it’s carbon. And honestly that would be one downside of wrapping it. You wouldn’t be able to see any smaller cracks behind the wrap. I actually ended up snapping that frame that was in the video, but it was bad enough that it was visible through the vinyl.

If you don t like it can you just peel it?

What type of vinyl did you use, was it monomeric, polymeric or cast?

@@freerideranch sweet it looks sick gonna try this myself. I would only use a heat gun if using cast vinyl though so you can post heat it to recast it to the shape of the frame as a hair dryer wont get the vinyl hot enough to do that.

Somewhat. It does well with small scratches, but bigger stuff, not so much. That's why I added some clear protective vinyl (basically frame protector) on the high wear areas.

Great job! Still, it would be easier for me to hire you to wrap my bike than for me to do it.
