Hmmm the way how I change their water is abit different, what I will do is clean the water of the culture and then try to get as much daphnia/Monia in a container and then get a new container mix the old culture with the water you want to culture them with and then half the culture into new container. And the ones you took out you can feed them or make more new cultures :D
