Oh bless you honey. Please don't stress over it coz it actually means that they are really happy. Like a purring cat or 🐶 grin or if a rabbit or guinea pig do popcorning lol. My Molly did it once to cheer me up when i was worried if she wasn't happy in hot cage n she clearly feeling very cozy lol. Its all ok sweetie your rats are just so happy, they just gotta make those eyes bulge! 😁 😂 👀👀😸💞👍😇

I wonder how Reptiles see people? Baby Bearded Dragons and Iguanas are really scared of us when they are real young. But over the years if you handle and feed them a lot they really calm down to you and usually let you do whatever you want to them.

It's been a decade since my last rat passed, and since my elderly father doesn't handle death well I cannot get more. Watching the pets and eye boggles as well as the content and sleepy ratties made me very happy.

I have already more than once, witnessed my late rat Molly make her eyes bulge lol. It was absolutely hilarious n i just bout keeled over with my laughter. She noticed my reaction amd was so pleased n intrigued by it she kept on doing it for bout ten minutes purely coz she enjoyed hearing me laugh 😂. I never knew that rats had such a sense of humour n she really tickled my ribs with that 3 times before she died recently lol 🤣😁😂🤣😂😁😸😸😸💕💞💕💞🐭🐁🐀

That's the spirit keep your chin up sweetie! I let you in on a lil secret; rats can eat as much human food as us. Yes the rat book is useful for general tips, but rays are omnivourous n i have not wasted a lot of food since i got nt babies. Wrinkled old veg in the fridge? The rats go nuts for it. That toast that hot burnt thst you did plsn on having for breakfast? Sorted rats can't get enough of buttered toast. Leftover rice, pasta, old pizza crusts they will, nosh down on any chow that you give them. Soatingly ofc, i do it coz i love then n soetimes they need fattening up when they look miserable. Try a strand of spaghetti wirh a rat you will laugh your pants off. Or giving them sticky stuff like jam n oeanut butter. And they go absolutely potty for coconuts,peanuts, potatoes 🥕 🍏 just bout anything. Just make sure you always give them their usual rat pellets n they will get so excited about this lovely new food you give them they can't make up their minds! I have to encourage them to go n hosrd it before they get any more tjo but its cool. PS they go nuts for fried egg 🥚 n old chicken bones. You won't actually find any when you go to clean the cage out lollololol

I turn my hoodies backwards and set my little girl in the hood and she just curls up and sleeps for hours. So adorable😊

My 3 year old rat died yesterday found him in his cage very limp and unable to move much with blood coming out of his nose i immediately took him the vets with tears in my eyes i was told he needed to be put down he hobbled over the examination desk to me for one last cuddle i cried and said my goodbyes im greiving now his big empty cage is in the corner of my room dam im sad

Andy Peters oh bless him, I'm sure he loved you very much and you provided a good life for him, that's the best you can do. I hope you get some more rats when you are ready and your loss doesn't put you off getting rats in the future. My dog died recently and it was very tough, remembering the good times made it better but it's so hard especially at the beginning when you relive their last moments 😟. My thoughts are with you and your little boy ❤.

I am sorry for your loss, I lost my Bandit two weeks ago. He was still young, not even a year old but he had had problems. Now his brother Shadow is alone, but I am personally going to get more rats because I love giving them happy lives no matter how short they may be.

My vet s so awesome she doesn't judge me when I take them in. Mine knew too he was getting put down almost eerie how they seem to know and wanted love before being carried off. I wanted to hold him while being put down but couldnt bear it. Hes up there waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge....

Just had to put my first rat to sleep on last Saturday. We buried her today. RIP Ratty. Came across this video again and love seeing all the ratties just loving the rubz! ❤

Akita 12 I trained my fully grown males to poop in the litter box ( I use wood based filler) by placing their droppings where I want them to poo. You can give it a try. Peeing is another matter though. Lol.

Wave Rider you can put a rock in their litter box, they like to pee on rocks I did this with my two young rats (they’re like two-three months old) and it worked!

Lovely to hear someone encouraging humans to be respectful towards rats. 💓

My boys like it when I tickle behind the ears and when I hold their tails. I run the tail thorough my fingers and they curl the ends around the tips. Sometimes they put their tails in my hand on purpose so I can do that!

My favorite thing about rats is their tails. They're so scaly and smooth💓💕

My rat Blue sounds like he is chewing on a seed when I stroke his neck and head. My other rat Rocky bruxes and boggles. They are sweet lil' noodles.

i found a color rat on the street which was injured, cared intensive for him, now all his wounds healed he got a huge cage two new buddies and is by far an exerience, i can tell you the rat is basically like my dogs, he comes when i make click sounds and is like totally focused on me. rats are cool

These are great tips. I have one boy that wants to jump on my chest for petting, and another who wants petting while he peers at me from the edge of the cage shelf. I'm glad to get confirmation that some rats just like things differently and that I'm not "doing it wrong".

I usually do it in a place where they feel confident in. Which is usually a box or blanket

I have 2 brothers, they have been with me and handled kindly since 5 weeks of age. They still dont care for it. They tense up and I can tell they dont care for it. They turned a year old a couple months ago. They are safe and happy, they have a large 2 story critter nation cage, and their personal boundaries respected. I do not try to hold them anymore, they are observed, they get head pets, and food treats like scrambled eggs and toast from time to time. They have really great lives.

The best feeling is when a normally fairly aloof rat decides that it wants a specific amount of pettings and climbs into your hands to get them

One of my girls twitches her ears once in awhile. I have had so many rats in my life time and this is the only one that does it. She seems happy all of the time and she is a cuddler. I just don't know what this means. Her ears go so fast it looks like she is a hummingbird. I laugh so hard when she does this. If I can catch this on video I will submit it some day. Thanks for your videos I love them

I'm about 90% sure you guys have females in heat :P Several of my girls have/do do this when in heat, and other behaviors to look for would be back arching when you pet towards the rear, a general "hyper/skittishness" during this time, hopping motions, and of course, what your seeing (the buzzing/vibrating ears). I do agree though, super hilarious behavior to see!

Thank you for your reply. I think you are right as she does arch her back and the girls are always smell each other's bottom obsessively at times. I guess I never noticed this before as 95% of my rats were males. I've also noticed that my males were always so content to lay on my lap for hours to be petted and my girls are so hyper they don't sit still for one minute. I suppose this could also be because they are only 3 months old. I enjoy your knowledge and appreciate your comments, thank you 🐀

My relationship with rats has been... bizarre to say the least. I've had a phobia of wild rodents, but have rats as my favorite type of pet. It's strange, but I've learned to separate domestic and wild rats as different species. Would be fully terrified of them to this day if I never had my first female rat. That being said, one good reason why people could be afraid of rats: the media. They can be displayed in very gruesome lights to provide nightmare fuel (like in the movie "George Orwell's 1984"). Another reason could be having a scary encounter with a wild one: those kinds of memories stay with you for years.

No matter how long I have them out of their cage they always try and get out as soon as I put them in. And move around too much I can’t give them a scratch for more than 5 seconds! I almost feel ashamed to say, but I use my iPad :P When I record "voiceovers" like in this video, i actually just record footage of my room or wherever I'm recording and then detach the audio in my editor (and finally drag it onto whatever clips I want to play while that particular audio segment is going on).

I have bunnies and they do some things similar when comfortable. They’ll grind their teeth and lick when comfortable. They also put their head down to rest on the floor or where ever they are, with their eyes closed.

Adorable! I (rat)sat for a friend when he went overseas, gained a whole new view of them. I don’t know about other pet rats but I found them kind, intelligent, and a joy to have around. Let’s say I am not opposed to having one as a pet now.

One of my (male) rats (he is about 4 months) LOVES when i pet the top of his head. He just sits there and falls asleep!

my rats are now around 8-9 months old, so far they only like cuddling when they're already asleep or sleepy, and then they do their bruxing but not otherwise. It's the cutest thing ever though! And one of them also did it when I sang a song for her

I'm glad you told me about boggling, I thought my rat was having a seizure... I feel bad now when she did this I always put her back in her cage because I was worried I'd over-exerted her. At the time when I had them, vets were used to treating cats and dogs but not smaller animals. Their usual treatment for everything in rodents (including mouth ulcers) was to put them to sleep... So I felt guilty for years for not taking her to a vet in a hope I could have her in my life a little bit longer, she seemed good in herself, clean, eating, clean pee and nicely forming poops. (This was before the internet existed.)

I just got my first 2 rats today (2 males)....i want more already....they are so sweet and one of my males (pak) is already grooming me....i am completely and utterly IN LOVE🐀🐀💙💙

I'm lucky if my rats stay still for 3 seconds 😂. They're young and excitable, though, and I wouldn't change anything about them

I love how different rats’ personalities are, i have two sisters and one LOVES getting tickles (she’ll get tickled on her tummy, then turn around like she’s mad, then suddenly zoom back and nuzzle my hand so i can tickle them again!), while her sis never lets me turn her on her back :’) this video was so sweet, i love when you can tell how comfortable a rat is with their human, all of your rats seem so calm around you and it was lovely to watch

I find u so get the best as advised in vid to let ur rats/pets be themselves, they are all different like us , and thats there beauty ,they are there own souls ,my girls have all been different .

Now I want rats again. These ones are really sweet for girls.

a couple of years ago i had a pet rat named Miki...he died from some lung disease (SOMETHING PLASMA)..just two and a half years...i still miss him...

These cuties are so blissed out!

I don’t even have a rat and I’m watching a person petting rats for 5 minutes. This is the quality I want.

My current crop isn't very cuddly. A group that had two different owners before I answered the Craigslist ad. 4 youngish ones and one big, older one rescued from being snake food. Naturally, that last one is all 'Whatever, I don't care' and is less prone to squirming and pulling away.

Aww thanks so much for rescuing poor abused and abandoned ratties. I've rescued several too; some were ultra cuddly, others liked to cuddle with other rats but not so with me. Maybe once your buddies get older they'll mellow out and want more cuddle time with you. They're probably used to humans being neglectful and cruel.

They vvill come around ifthey havnt allready . They vvill notice that you keep trying to be friends & still keep trying to be nice & they vvill start being playfull. Once 1 does let you pet it, if it starts bruxing let the others hear it, then they vill realize that you are definately trying to be nice to them & they'll start being friendlier

Well you are thinking wrong. You are assuming pet rats and WILD rats are the same. They are not.

That's called boggling and only occurs because the rat's jaw muscle connects to their eyes. But it just means that she's super happy and bruxing very hard

Bart Blom if you're a kid, and your parents aren't in love with rats, don't get them. Wait until you're older. Because rats need a lot of responsibility, research and care, and a lot of money for medical attention.

My rat always do that... When I try to kiss him he puts his paw and turn his head. I feel so rejected 😢 But I'm also happy that he climbs on me and allows me to pet him sometimes 😊
