PATTERN

Yoda Hat (6-12 months)
Yarn: Medium yarn weight yarn #4 / Caron One Pound
Hook: 5.00mm / US H
Measurements: 18” circumference (un-stretch), 20” circumference (stretched), 7” height
Make loose knot / magic ring
Make chain 2
Round 1 : 12 dc into the magic ring, slip sts
Round 2 : chain 2, 2dc into every sts. Slip sts. (24 sts)
Round 3 : chain 2, *2 dc, 2 dc into next sts*. Repeat 8x. Slip sts. (32 sts)
Round 4 : chain 2, *3 dc, 2 dc into next sts*. Repeat 8x. Slip sts. (40 sts)
Round 5 : chain 2, *4 dc, 2 dc into next sts*. Repeat 8x. Slip sts. (48 sts)
Round 6-10 : chain 2, 48 dc Slip sts.
Ear flap

Row 1 : chain 1, 10 hdc
Row 2 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 6 hdc, 1 hdc dec (8 sts)
Row 3 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 4 hdc, 1 hdc dec (6 sts)
Row 4 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 2 hdc, 1 hdc dec (4 sts)
Row 5 : chain 1, turn work, 2 hdc dec (2 sts)
Skip 17 sts from the 1st ear flap to make the 2nd ear flap. Repeat same pattern
After done with 2nd ear flap, chain 1 and make hdc sts around for border. Make 2 hdc in each corner of the ear flap.

Row 1 : 10 hdc (starting from 3rd chain from hook)
Row 2-3 : chain 1, turn work, 10 hdc
Row 4 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 8 hdc (9 sts)
Row 5 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 7 hdc (8 sts)
Row 6 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 6 hdc (7 sts)
Row 7 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 5 hdc (6 sts)
Row 8 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 4 hdc (5 sts)
Row 9 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 3 hdc (4 sts)
Row 10 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 2 hdc (3 sts)
Row 11 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc (2 sts)
Row 12 : chain 1, turn work, 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc (1 sts)
Chain 1 & cut yarn.
Attach ears to beanie

so i wanna make this for my dad because he wants me to(I'm 14 btw) and part of the problem is that when I do it it doesn't curve...you know into a hat/beenie form. why does it do that? what am I doing wrong?

Ok I think this is the 3-6 Beanie and the one labeled 3-6 is the 6-12 month beanie. I needed to make one of each and this one is smaller in rows and stitches than the 3-6 months one.

Oh no this was very easy to make but instead of using thick yarn (the yarn that was shown in the video) I used very thin yarn. And I put the beanie on my niece and the ears started to hang 🤦♀️.
