    Omg! Tku tku! I have watched many videos but yours is the best. You really show the bumps and stitch slowly so I can follow. I finally understand what I was doing wrong. I’m struggling with an oval and unraveled the project twice. I’ll do it again following your video. Tku and God bless.

    Your easy to follow tutorial is so easy to follow and gives such a uniform neat start to a rug. I am wanting to make a large oval but not sure to proceed on the corners when I have many more rows. surely the corners cant always consist of 3 stitches. Your comments will be appreciated.

  • @CrochetwithJulia

    @CrochetwithJulia

    What do you mean 'always consist 3 stitches'? In every next row you add more and more stitches in the round parts of the oval. Check 41:09

  • @CrochetwithJulia

    @CrochetwithJulia

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! I'm sorry, but I didn't try to crochet an oval with half double crochet. But if you want to crochet it with double crochet it will be almost the same. The same principle of increasing stitches in every next row. But in the round edges of the first row here I've made 3 single crochet and if you wanna do that with double crochet you should make 5 double crochet in the round edges of the first row. And also you will not be able to make the same joining of the rows with double crochet as I've made with single crochet. And in the beginning of every next row you make 2 chain stitches first because a double crochet is a higher stitch than a single crochet. But you can experiment with half double crochet too and I will be glad if you share your result 😊

    We've made 14 stitches in our chain in the very beginning. Then I was saying that the first stitch and the last one we will use to crochet the round edges of the oval into them. So 14 stitches minus 1 first stitch and minus 1 last stitch we get 12 stitches in the middle part. And I was saying that this middle part we will crochet the same way in every row, we will not change it in any way.

    I’ve tried this several times and it curls so much even with the heat treatment. I’ve even tried a bigger hook and doing looser or tighter stitches and still it curls. Any tips?

  • @CrochetwithJulia

    @CrochetwithJulia

    3 жыл бұрын

    Make sure that you've done everything completely the same as I show it in my tutorial. Also make sure that all your stitches have the same size and not very tight. Everything must be fine. Two main reasons of curling are too tight stitches or if you've made some mistake while crocheting, like missed some stitches or something like that.
