How To Crochet A Speckled Scrap Blanket - Great Project For Beginners! - Part 1
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Part Two - • How To Crochet A Scrap...
Hey everyone!
In this video I will show you how to create your very own speckled scrap blanket. The scrap blanket is a great stash busting project that uses very little brain power. I love this project because it's so mindless and meditative - a great project to curl up on the couch with!
As I'm making such a large blanket I was unable to finish it in this video, but keep an eye out for part 2 where I'll show you the finished product!
Enjoy! :)

love the blanket!! where is the link for part 2 please? This link just loops back to part 1, lol I feel like I'm in a matrix!
Omg- thank goodness for my husband glazing over all these years and teaching me to get to the point within the first :05. Im too old to wait for this nice lady to get to the point. Leftover yarn, knot it, chain, hdc.
I absolutely love scrapghans the last one I made my husband hijacked from me, it was done all in baby yarns, partial skeins, had partials in blues, pinks greens, some I can't even remember the names for, hubby fell in love with it, he got pneumonia last September, brought him home with hospice, he had his blanket in the hospital and used it til the day he passed 😢 glad I have it now for memories

You could also make up a ball of dark yarns & a ball of light yarns & use them together for a different speckled look. Looks nice & cosy already.

Very pretty. I am glad I am not the only one that joins yarn like you do. It is so easy and doesn't come undone. Some crocheters make joining much harder than it needs to be.
Thank you! I did this blanket using a strand of white speckled throughout and it turned out beautifully!!! I gave it to my son and his wife for Christmas and they love it. Now ALL my kids want a scrap blanket just like it.

That’s awesome Rebecca! I love them with the white speckle running through 😍😍
I tied all my scraps together and practiced doing a ripple stitch yarns ended wherever and when I finished this blanket, my dad claimed it for himself and used as his blanket; I had a box full of scrap yarns to start
This is what I do, too! I try to keep up with adding my yarn to my ball as I go. It’s always fun to finally start the project because you never know what yarn is next up on the ball!
When it's done you can think about all the different projects you made from all of the different yarn :) Everyone in the family likes different colors so I have bits and bobs left over from making hats and scarves. This will be a nice way of connecting everyone! Thank you for sharing this!

“I’d rather stick pins in my eyes” YES! 😂
I can't wait to try this and FINALLY, someone who holds their work like I do between your thumb and index finger. I just couldn't get coordinated to hold it with my thumb and middle finger.
I got 6-7 balls of very very bright colored yarn from a neighbour and I didn't know what to do with it. This was the perfect idea so I've been doing "scraps" and started a blanket with a black strand following along. I love it already and can't wait for it to be done! :D
Scrap blankets are my favorite!
I’ve been making these scrap afghans for years. As I crochet lots of blankets for charity giving, there are lots of yarn leftovers. Recently I discovered a joining method on KZread called the Russian Join. It’s really a great way to join yarn as the waste is very, very minimal, you do not have to deal with tails at all and your join cannot be felt - it just disappears into your stitching.
It’s the Cozy’s one the one that cuddles me living in Winter in Montana, my happy blanket!!
I am in the process of making this blanket and I love it!!! So easy and you really don’t have to follow a pattern or do much thinking!!! Thank you!!!
This is a great project and I am like you and absolutely hate sewing in the ends. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for sharing this video! After watching this video, I started my own blanket following your instructions & I love how it is working out so pretty. I’ll post a photo to you when I finish my blanket. Again, thank you so much! 😊
How smart this is! How I wish I had been smart enough to gather these pieces in the past years. I will from now on for the rest of my life! A big thank you.
I had so much scrap yarn from my Addi hats I made for charity. Followed your advice and used red throughout plus the scraps with a 10 mm hook. Looks great and just finished my second blanket for toddlers in Romania. Thank you so much.

Awesome idea! I've just started loom knitting and have lots of scraps. I used to crochet, so I'll probably give this a go, or I may use my loom to do something after the ball of yarn is made and I've made my chain. What a cool way to use things up!
I did a scrap blanket ex actually like this!!! Omg! It’s my favorite blanket and it’s bright colors ! I call it Mt Happy blanket it’s speckled also with white!!! I love that you patterned this!!! Saving for history maybe make another, thanks 🎉
I love this pattern.
Yes! This is almost exactly how I love doing blankets! I also like to use a mandala yarn or variegated yarns I love that are too thin for me to use, along with solid scraps :)
KATIE! Love love love this idea! I never know what to do with random left overs and you’ve solved my problem!!! The white really softens some of those stronger colours which I love 💕💕 You’ve done a fantastic job of the blanket, you’re light hearted in your chats..... feeling chipper after watching!

Thanks Debby!! 🥰🥰
Also, I don't sew the ends in, I hate it as well! Such a tedious waste of time ugh, I started just crocheting over my color changes, if that makes sense?? Idk how to explain but it does away with the tails and is so much easier to work with instead of trying to get the ends woven into the project at the end. For me, especially when working blankets, by the time I'm done haha last thing I wanna do is mess with the ends. I just want to be done 😅 Another also, I absolutely love watching your videos! You are so fun to listen to, and I relate very much to your whole "find what works for you" type of attitude. I find it hard to watch a lot of tutorials when they are seemingly snobby sounding or make one feel like one MUST DO IT THAT ONE WAY, it just takes the fun out of crochet. So thank you for the refreshing light hearted explanations 🥰

If I start now, I might have one finished in time for a Winter Solstice gift.
Other then blanket you can also make a purse or bag. I made a round bag to carry my crochet projects in. I crochet a draw string on top to gather it closed on top and crochet shoulder straps. I received a lot of compliments on it. Not sure where it is now. That was year ago. I didn't put a liner in mine but should have to keep crochet hook from sticking out once in a while.
Thank you, right to the point I’m making my blanket now , don’t know how long it’s going to take 🤣

Thanks for the helpful idea iv been attempting to make something like a cushion but I'm waiting on some nice quality yarn I have lots of scraps and was going to crochet a basket made from scraps and all sorts of things I want to make iv got lots of lesser quality wool and some I don't want to use for anything but a top or a nice scarf or somthing so thanks to you I am now on my 3rd row of scraps blanket of 200 stitches I didn't like the yarn at all but it's turned out quite nice even the edging so thanks for idea I was getting kind of frustrated that a project was not going to plan now I can focus on this and tidy my yarn boxes 👌💕

This works well on thin yarn, i.e., #1, 2 and 3/🍼 baby+ sport weight. Hate sewing as well! I crochet my pieces together...
I did this and used the scraps to learn the ripple stitch and when I got the blanket long enough my dad claimed the blanket as his own I could not even put an edging around --he took it home and used it

🤣🤣 I have an entire basket (that I made from scrap yarn) that is full of scrap yarn 🤣 I never thought the mix of colors would look good together but now I'm curious! I am going to try to start one!
I don’t use knots in my crocheting. I just use each piece and cover the ends as I go along. Same idea, but no knot needed if the end is long enough to crochet over at least 4 inches.
Im going to do this. I worry my edges won't be straight. So at the end I chain 2 and then begin again in the first stitch,
Nice, love this. Is the scrap yarn all the same weight or if you use the constant white can the scraps be slightly different? How wide did the blanket end up with the 170 chains?
I'd love to hear about making sure the rows don't lose stiches so the top and bottom are the same size, a problem I often encounter when I don't do a large granny square.
@Katieree
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Judy, The trick is to make sure you aren’t skipping any stitches at the beginning and end of the rows. I recommend counting your stitches at the end of each row to make sure you’re on the right track 😊
