This is my go to stress relieving project! I make mine from the top down and use an H hook with worsted yarn. This stitch make a very warm and stretchy hat. Thanks for making this tutorial so more people know about this hat!❤️❤️❤️

This hat is like a "two-fer" since it really is reversible🤗 I crochet for charities, and one of them supports mariners at sea and on the inland waterways of America.Most people don't know there are 15,000+ mariners away from their families at the Holidays. This charity provides Holiday packages to them...wanting watchmen's caps, scarfs, etc. I think this is a great option to crochet...so cozy and warm what mariner wouldn't love this? And they can wear which ever side suits them and it's like double insulated 🥰 The only thing I might try is decreasing rows at the top so I don't have to manage the bulk (?)...I'm not real good at those top closures 😉. Thanks for a great tutorial.

I've never tried a fpdc decrease but I might try to design a hat that works from the top down what a cap base instead of the tube. It'll be a while, but if I do, I'll come back and let you know

@@CraftyCrochetAndArt Well....what I have done in the past with other stitches (usually Tunisian)...is divide the number of stitches by 6 or 8 what ever gives an equal #of stitches...so, if its 36 divide by 6 giving 6 equal sections. So....crochet 6 stitches then skip one stitch...crochet 6, skip one. Each round is re-calculated, etc, etc. until you have a number of stitches that you are comfortable gathering. Depending on the pattern I'm working, usually only 2 or 3 rounds. I hope this makes sense. If you do create another fpdc hat, I'd love to see it and make one. Thanks for the reply. 🤗

For regular size four yarn I recommend a size 5mm hook but it really depends on the yarn size. I'll do a video going over how to tell what hook size to use soon!

Do you do a. Brim or no brim of hat

You can do a brim if you would like to, but personally I do not put it brim on it
