Hi crochet friends! In this video I'll show you how to crochet a Balaklava or ski mask. This mask makes the perfect gift for the outdoorsman or woman in your life. It's sure to keep them toasty warm during those cold outdoor treks. Or, change up the color and make some for anybody battling the cold.
This is a pattern I modified from the Yarnspirations website. I added some length and I closed the seam a little differently than the original pattern. I will post the original pattern below. I had a heck of a time reading this particular pattern so I hope my video will make it a little easier to understand. I did notice one slight blooper, though. At the end of the first row, I made a slip stich and began my 'steps' at the end of my first row, rather than on my way back in row 2. I hope this doesn't throw you off too much! Sorry!
If you notice the thumbnail pic looks a little photoshopped, it was! LOL I couldn't get my son to take a selfie in time for the video, so I took an old pic of him hunting and photoshopped him wearing the Balaklava! Modern technology is amazing.

What is crooked? The end or the length? The end will be a little crooked with the 'steps'. If the length is crooked, it may be your tension. Don't worry! Just keep going ☺️ I'm sure it'll come out great!!

This was the worst tutorial I have ever watched. I have no clue how to make the second half of this mask. Doing it off camera and then coming back like we know how to just do that…thanks for nothing. I wasted hours on the first half of this just to now have to take it apart to find someone willing to show how to actually make this thing from start to finish. What a waste of time. So stupid.

You just repeat the first section. It didn't make sense to film the exact same steps all over again. You'll find most channels who respect their viewer's time and ability to use common sense do the same in their tutorials. By the way, I also included a link to the written pattern. You'll note the written pattern also only states to REPEAT the first section. They do not rewrite the same steps. As you continue as a beginner crocheter, you find this to be the norm. Good luck to you in your crochet journey
